Popular Post redwood1
It seems the beach instead of a place for people to sit down relax in the shade and watch the world go by and get a bit of exercise... The beach road is now.... A 5G Smart City Project..... Can anyone read this beach sign? Here is some of the old lighting.....Its a soft lighting and not too invasive.... Here is the new lighting......Nothing soft about these lights....These lights are blasting an industrial harsh quality of light all over the beach......The beach is lit up like day time... Night time Photo..... No flash Night time Photo...... No flash Night time Photo... No flash They are putting these flood lights in the Palm Trees to light things up even more....This is a work in progress but there could be 100s and 100s of these lights in Palm Trees..... If all the other lighting was not enough....They are also installing LOADs of these street lights on the beach..... 2 1

redwood1
Is it really relaxing to spend some time on the beach at night if the beach is lit up as it was daylight? Same goes for the beach walkway...... They seem to have zero money for seatting, flowers, trees or art.... But they seem to have unlimited money for, lighting, 5G , CCTV cameras, elecronic signs...ect..

Would be great to have some public seats around. I hate having to pay for every little thing or go into a bar to sit down. That’s one thing I never liked about Thailand. There’s no place to sit and relax like other countries without having to buy something. Need some public areas with benches, some parks with water fountains, places like that. Many other countries have seating all along the shoreline. Puerto Vallarta in Mexico is a good example. It’s not cost. A good metal or concrete bench with arms and a backrest can last for years. If “they” want to turn the city into a friendly destination seating is needed. Edited September 15, 2023 by JimTripper 6

Government subsidy = 4 million Cost of project = 3 million Projects department = Happy Happy Note to the nit-pickers. Popular Post LALes
Another great innovation brought to you by Crimestoppers, Inc. Let's face it, if there weren't so many assaults, thefts and fights in the darkened recesses of Beach Rd, there wouldn't be any need for the floodlights. 2

Popular Post Bangkok Barry
I think it's an improvement. As for the those who don't like it, don't worry. With the usual lack of maintenance many of the lights will not be working within a few months, 2

bbko
Given the average age of the late night beach road tourist (70) and the likelihood of them having poor eyesight/cataracts, the number of men in drag, the number of pickpocket stories, the number of crimes, the number of tree rats, bright lights are a good deterrent. Some people can find the negative in the littlest things.

Some elderly men seem to hang around opposite Mike shopping mall and other seating areas with the ladies of the night \ homeless, they probably don't like being under a spotlight 1

You would just love living in Singapore...Clean, tidy ,orderly....Life has been sterilized out of that place....No atmnoshere.....Just a bland sea of conformity and orderlyness.... Blasting floodlights on the beach will kill what little attactivness the beach has left after the last 10 years of awful destruction the beach has endured....
