I just checked, I have two pages of ignored users. This list grew over several years, probably a good part of those users doesn't exist anymore in this forum.   I don't ignore users if they

None....   its easy enough to just ignore a post if we don't wish to engage.    Someone was going on my ignore list the other day, then I couldn't be bothered and just ignored them.

Like being outrageously thin skinned... the same characters probably go through life offended at everyone and upset by everything...

exactly.

sometimes it's inevitable to take jabs at someone if you disagree with their viewpoints.

but overly think skinned people can't tolerate criticism, so they put everyone on ignore.

none, however, I could well be on someone's list ????

Absolutely. There is a popular poster on Bangkok post that a lot of people Including myself disliked immensely. We thought he spoke no sense. Turns out a very clever person and proved a lot of people wrong. Don't completely dismiss but always keep a safe and intriguing distance.

I have 2 on ignore, one stalker and one who persists in putting the same very tedious signature after every short post

by that logic ...

a lot of people had annoying quotes before quotes were removed

some posters have annoying avatars

some posters like me have annoying user names

who cares about a signature ?

Most here take things personal, instead of looking at the bigger picture.

It's whatever is irritating, said poster wrote short posts like a few words then would always say Regards bla bla, tedious once you've read it 100s of times, no need for it

I would never ignore anyone who has opposing political, religious or lifestyle views - it helps to know your "enemy", or at least have a good laugh at them.  However I recently, for the first time in 15 years on the forum, put three tedious members on ignore.  No names, but I'm sure many can guess who they are.  I only wish the function carried over to blocking threads they start, or at least stopped them appearing on the thread list on the right of the screen.  I have no wish at all to read their threads or trolling posts.

I tend to scroll to a thread, look at the starter, and if I don't like the thread starter, I simply skip the thread.

As a member I would dearly, dearly love to add a number of members to my ignore list (some of whom might be active in this thread) :whistling:

As a mod I'm not allowed to ????

I would love to put a pretend Mod on ignore but cannot. He even sent me a message signing it as Moderator. Now has changed his tittle.

Zero.

I really couldn't give enough of a <deleted> about any of you that I would take the time to block you.

I actually think this culture on aseannow.com of bragging about who you have blocked is pathetic and I wonder how thse people deal with adversity in their day-to-day lives.

How sensitive do you need to be that you cant decide on the fly whether or not a post is to be acknowleged or ignored?

that said, if i were to block someone, it would be fredwiggy, that guy drinks way too much of hs own KoolAid.

I don't think anybody is bragging, just responding to the OP.

stalker, though, is a very valid reason to put someone on ignore.

but you should also be flattered!

usually just celebs get stalked.

When you are continually insulted by the same poster it is difficult not to take things personally.

I can see my post also provoke ????

All I can say, it is a anonym forum, and nothing more. When that is said, I find many of your posts genuin and useful as well interesting.

Have a good evening

I come to add Celsius so there are 20 ????

I just added 2 more, and one wasn't Gordon Ramsay ... ????

edit: make that 3 ... ????

That's not a forum. That's a self-centred posse of over-opinionated and laughably ignorant blow hards who like to post school yard insults about fellow contributors, mostly alluding to some sort of criminal activity with minors. They wouldn't probably didn't last a week over here in "ignore list land" but somehow they seem to thrive in the shallower waves of self-aggrandisement that the bangkok post readers comments offers to these otherwise insufferably nauseating, Thai bashing soap boxers.

Using the collective "we" suggests that you are part of a clique.

I quite like that BKP side because all opinions are left and not filtered. You could argue that when your comment is deleted from here because it harms someone's feelings, is that a forum?

ATD

What is ATD. I'm finding I'm stuck in discussions with people that have two different stubborn mindsets, mine and yours so my comment Agree to Disagree is the best I can offer as a final closing argument.

Yes, I am part of a group that have similar opinions. As I'm sure you are.

No worries and agreeing to disagree is fine. Some of the BKP's most virulent commentators are all about shooting the messenger with ad hominem attacks that suggest they know more about the commenter they are assassinating than they probably do, while offering nothing with regard to the subject matter.

The moderation here seems to take that aspect off the forum which, in my opinion, serves the forum's functionality better? It's about having opinions on another member's opinions and nothing to do with the member's intelligence, sexual proclivities or online personality, be it real or affected.
