The zoo took delivery of a giraffe and zebra, to show where the animals originated from 2 people dressed up supposedly in the national costume of Africa. They look very impressive.????

My wife uses black goo face mask beauty stuff. She has photos with it on her face on her social media, I said to her if she posted those photos on her social media in the US she’d be demonized and her accounts would be shut down, honestly she can’t comprehend such nonsense.

Hey thanks, will have to check out the Zoo next time.  As far as Black face Thais, I love the dark skin.

I have been seeing a lady occasionally from Surin she thinks her heritage has a Black person in it.  She says to me: "I think I Negro".  So dark and beautiful.

"the national costume of Africa" does not exist. Africa is a continent made up of dozens of countries/nation's with hundreds of languages and cultures. There is no costume that represents Africa and certainly not the crappy fabrics being worn. And as for the blackface, it is a total insult. Many people in Africa have much lighter skins and many people from the subcontinent of India have much darker skins. To portray Africans in this way is a sickening display of ignoranceand racism. Chiang Mai Zoo, like all zoos should be closed.

When I went to CM zoo , I felt very sorry for the animals . Kept in small , closed enclosures , they " vegetate " more than living .

No thanks , I do not support cruelty to animals by paying the entrance fee to zoos anymore .

If really need to expose exotic animals , at least , treat them species-appropriate .

I regret visiting a couple animal prisons/zoos here with the wee one.   They are really in a sad state.

 

Been to San Diego Zoo, and as 'nice' as it is, it's still a prison, and not a natural environment.  I'm really anti any animal enclosures, of any type for any reason.

 

Leave them in the wild.  If want to see, go to them.

That’s real nice…people having fun and celebrating another culture with no frame of thought of the above accusation. Yet using racism to falsely accuse others of racism is a worse form of racism in of itself. A platitude of false empathy and self imposed false guilt. 
The zoo is a fun place for families to go and learn about other creatures from far away places and in this case, culture.
