Police Order Security Upgrade, Strengthen Surveillance of Foreigners Entering Thailand

On October 9, 2023, National Police spokesman Lt. Gen. Achayan Kritong unveiled heightened security protocols issued by National Police Chief, Gen. Torsak Sukvimol, in response to escalating violence abroad.

 

These measures underscore an intensified scrutiny at significant locations, including government and related facilities, reported Siam Rath.

 

The focus is on fortifying entry points into the country, bolstering safety precautions, demonstrating strength, and increasing the frequency and intensity of inspections.

 

Local police, in coordination with the Rapid Response Team 191, the Crime Suppression Division, the Tourist Police, and Immigration Police, are collaborating to enhance effectiveness.

 

Additionally, the Tourist Police are directed to intensify their efforts ensuring the safety of travelers in every aspect.

 

The Immigration Office has been instructed to be vigilant, especially towards individuals arriving from high-risk countries.

 

Gen. Sukvimol emphasized the need for all relevant units to stay alert, synergize efforts, and heighten security in every dimension. The Deputy National Police Chief is tasked with overseeing the operations.

 

Public cooperation is sought for any suspicious or emergency situations, with citizens encouraged to report to police at hotlines 191 or 1599, available 24/7.

I know it's wishful thinking, but at the very least, I hope they have facial recognition technology that can match faces from the horrendous Hamas photos and videos, and catch any of them trying to enter Thailand.

 

I'm forecasting a massive grass roots interweb effort to go through those photos and vids to publish those faces.  One of the things the interweb was just made for...

Tosakit is a rather pathetic attempt to translate the name of police chiefTorsak Sukvimol.  I don't know how they got that from ต่อศักดิ์ which has a silent mark over the "di" at the end which would be Torsakdi, if it didn't.  Some Thais just write down the first thing that comes into their heads when they transliterate names of other Thais without regard for how the name is pronounced or how the owner spells it in English themselves.

Surachate was born in 1970 in Songkhla. His father, also a policeman, based his son’s nickname on his favorite playing card: the joker. Surachate quickly rose through the ranks to command a local police station and later move to Bangkok to head the 191 task force.

Yes the immigration police have heightened there deal, my girlfriends visa was expiring the next day after returning and after I paid them 5000 baht they said Now she can reenter,, and yes the money went into his pockets
