A Mercedes-Benz driven by a Chinese national cut off a 52-year-old motorcyclist on Sukhumvit Road in Pattaya yesterday evening, leading to the latter sustaining severe injuries.

The accident, reported at 3 PM on October 10th, took place on Sukhumvit Road at the mouth of Soi Sukhumvit 50/1 in the Nongprue area of Banglamung district, Chonburi province.

Now let's have some justice. Don't let this rich bastard off because he's rich and doesn't give a <deleted> about poor people. Throw him in the slammer for attempted murder and GBH..

But was it?

There is a traffic signal just before that U-turn.

Did the motorcyclist, and the car he seems to be undertaking, blow through a red light?

Why Thai people call a Mecedes Benz just Benz? It is a Mecedes

And although it's seen as a hi-so car in Thailand they are used as taxis in Germany. I love that. Oh, the shame, the humiliation, the loss of face.

As for shortening things, normal in Thailand. Motocy(cycle), paracet(amol) etc.

For the same reason they call a BMW just BM. And, by the way, the car is a Mercedes Benz with an r.

Overtaking on the left (or undertaking, whatever you want to call it) increases the chances of hitting another vehicle for sure; taking the CCTV picture into the equation, then the accident would never have happened if:

  • the Benz driver (race/nationality anyhow irrelevant and co-incidential here) not doing a circus turn
  • the motorbike driver not overtaking on the left

But then one would have to see the entire CCTV-clip.

But it's a Chinese one!

Matters not, it is more up market than a bike... wealth, prestige, make of vehicle, type of vehicle, size of vehicles have more "rights" on the road, oh, and bikes have more "rights" than pedestrians... lol... this is Thailand.

Or just called a Merc in Western countries. If you say Merc to a Thai person, they have no idea what you are talking about.

Ironically,

Jellinek named the new cars after his daughter, Mercédès Jellinek, whose Spanish name translated to “mercy.”

In this accident the car does not live up to its name.

And someone really needs to stop being pedantic.  Geez what is the world coming to, when we start picking on a spelling error, on a forum where we speak multiple languages. SMH.

All that is necessary for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing.????

Why not.

In the UK, a Mercedes is informally called a 'Merc', and in the US it is informally called a 'Benz'.

And in the UK a BMW is called Black Mans Wheels. just saying.
