In the photo they look like Russians too ...

Since they are not in Russian Uniforms or even costumes (Cossack etc)how can anyone tell?

Where did you read they had overstayed by one day? The report said they were on overstay and there were other legal violations.

Smile please 🙂

Well I think the colour of the skin helps.

Well, I think we can be sure they are not White Russians.

Four armed police officers faced with the drastic threat of 1 man armed with a baseball bat were forced to withdraw and call "Thai SWAT"

If someone is going to attack 4 policemen with a baseball bat, I'd expect a dramatic & overwhelming response, No?

If they were all issued 90 day visas there would be none of this.

That's only for subscription deserters from there duties at home.

These chaps are the Wrong targets.

The real indian crooks are those on Sukhumvit tailor shops who overcharge now and are asking prices that are getting closer to european prices.

It can be quite satisfying to bust a luxury villa full or rich foreigners on some immigration issue with absurd deployment of tactical teams. Obviously some jealous people could have ratted on them.

Na, they attacked cops.

Bring in a Vietnamese specialist from the War to teach these guys a proper lesson.  Maybe there's a Japanese officer or two from WW2 who could pass along their skills to a new generation.  The Americans could send a few guards from Guantanamo Bay to extract any information the filthy overstayers might be holding back.

Gangsters doing gangster things. This is what you get when you fling open the gates to anyone with a passport. Most "quality tourist" are not looking to stay on holiday for more than 30 days. Just the sketchy ones.

Perhaps our Indian guests spend more in one day then you would in a month ?

I don't thank their are many capable over 90yo Japanese available to pass on their so called "skills"!

So who is five Indians against 4 cops so they needed to call back up so then it was 30 against five or six seems about right for Thailand. TIT

That's from the police handbook in every country in the world.

The cops aren't there to fight in the Kumite and go home crippled.  The cops here show incredible restraint. At home there would be 5 (or more) bullet riddled carcasses and a mess that would require a mop and bucket to clean up.

The moral of this story is to be as polite as possible when you rebuff a tailor who tries to drag you into his shop.

Trust me, neither of the two detained men visible on the initial police photo (with the SWAT team) looks like a Russian. One of them is definitely Indian and another one is most likely Indian.

Photoshoot released later (https://www.facebook.com/phuketinfocenter/posts/629779372697430?ref=embed_post) contains several more guys clearly identifiable as Indians. Seriously, where did you find your Russian look-alikes on these photos?

Oh wait, I found the one. The bastard tries to hide but the choice of shirt gives him away.

Happy to note that now those criminals who are one day past their visa expiration date will receive a visit from the combined force of over 30 officers from the SWAT unit.

I feel more confident now living in Thailand.

Does anyone seriously believe 6 Indians unarmed attacked 30 armed Thai Police outnumbered 5 to 1? Just an excuse for the BIB to beat the S*** out of a bunch of Farangs and crow about it!

Quote

the situation took a drastic turn as another foreigner emerged from concealment within the villa, brandishing a baseball bat and attempting to strike four officers. Faced with this imminent threat, the officers had to withdraw and call for assistance from the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team.

A contingent of multiple Immigration police combined with local police officers had to withdraw from a confrontation and call in SWAT for backup reinforcements because they encountered ONE threatening foreigner with a baseball bat????

Are those guys actually real police, or just lackeys who sit around drinking coffee in police kiosks, filling out paperwork and periodically collecting brown envelopes?  They need SWAT to take down one guy with a baseball bat?

You obviously have not understood the notions of collateral correlation.

Um, irony? Never heard of it?

Im guessing these people were heavily armed. And extremely dangerous. Or did they just physically attack?
Because a SWAT team is usually only called in by a police department for extreme circumstances.

Knowing how to spell the concept is obviously different than the ability to use it. You don't seem to understand the simple concept of staying on topic
