Your first time there? Pretty standard based on my experiences and what I've read on here and other places.

no not first time...and not standard....it is always a pain in the butt but to tell everyone come back at 4;30 or 830 am at 1045 am was/is ridiculous....i was sitting with a group of couple dozen people and we had all been through the hoops and paid the $$ and were just waiting for them to stamp the visa extension in  and return passport as normal (of course the papers had all been checked and rechecked so why the gal that took the $$ could not simply put the stamp in passport and give back to you then rather than go sit and wait some more is some kind of stupid normal}....then guy comes out and says  go home/come back...

It seems since Jomtien changed from a 2 step system to a 3 step system it's all gone to <deleted>.

Used to be queue to get docs checked and get ticket, once ticket called pay 1900 and get stamp. Now it's an extra step to wait for stamp and I assume it's one guy given all the power to stamp when he feels like it. If he's then not available people told to come back tomorrow

Please name an agent that does a 30 day extension for 200-400 baht and I'll do it in a heartbeat.

I took my friend to the seemingly popular Maneerat last week and they quoted 6000 baht to do a 30 day extension (obviously includes 1900 baht immigration fee)

Disgraceful parasites

Not an unusual story, I had something similar beginning of this year, queued up for 2+ hours, told to come back in the morning and start again, obviously no apology

From the OP it sounded like him and a couple of dozen other people had found enough good reasons to stay in Thailand another 30 days.

A dozen is not all

I just don't feel confortable giving out a foreign passport with bank details, or showing my signature..... to a stranger in Thailand.

30 day extension has nothing to do with bank details but agree i would not be a participate in the fake bank deposits done by agents for retirement visas that many brag about.

Looks like service gone worse.

Last year it only took 7.5 hours...

No problem; I just book a 1300THB room at Jomtien Thani for a night or two. They got great breakfast!
