A woman unfamiliar with her route plunged her car into a ditch while following GPS directions to visit a friend in Banglamung, Chon Buri. Rescue officials rushed to the scene following the GPS mishap, which occurred around 2.30am today.

The distress call was received by the Pattaya City Bright Prosperity Rescue Centre, reporting a car accident with injuries near Nong Ta San Village, Khaomai Kaew, Banglamung, Chon Buri. Rescue volunteers hurried to investigate the situation.

In the relatively dark accident site, a Suzuki Swift with Rayong license plate number Kor-1095 was found in a roadside ditch about 1 metre deep. The vehicle was damaged, and the driver, known as Kanya, a 32 year old factory worker, suffered minor injuries. Initial medical treatment was provided by paramedics, who also coordinated with officials to retrieve the car from the ditch following this unprecedented GPS mishap.

Upon questioning, Kanya explained that she was using GPS to navigate to a friend’s house in the unfamiliar area of Khaomai Kaew. While she was driving, the GPS warned of an upcoming left turn. As she turned, her car lost control and immediately fell into the ditch. Fortunately, the ditch was not very deep, sparing her from severe injuries. A passerby then called officials for assistance, reported KhaoSod.

So not her fault.

What was she doing?  Driving on instruments like an airplane pilot?

It is never anyone's fault here.

They really should not be allowed out

'Unfamiliar with her route'

This is the second or third time i've seen this phrase mentioned in the news today.

Don't know about others but i never scout out an unfamiliar route, i just drive normally.

Declare 13 November the offciial "Blame it on the GPS Day".

This driver should be taken away the driving license for good - some are just too stupid, sorry!

C'mon Bob, hope you take care of her. 0230  really?

This is the 3rd or 4th time I've seen this excuse recently. Do the just ignore the road in front of them and follow the dot on their GPS screen?  WTF??!!

Going to visit a friend at 2.30am?

The pub closed and she was seeing double so it's only logical to rely on GPS. was she tested?

Jesus! Again? Using GPS don't means the driver can close their eyes. Why do we only hear this happening in Thailand and not elsewere?

Simply Stupid, GPS in Thailand Hopeless. Many streets have a couple different names .

Simply Impossible to Rely On GPS off the Main High Ways.

The instrument she was using, likely a mobile phone, had no control!

" In a relatively dark accident site " that has a street light on a concrete pole in front of the house, where the car stopped.

Is this woman a MOTH ?  :whistling:

Just got a message from AIS...........'Get ready to experience the ultimate elevation in quality through a new journey with 3BB and AIS, ensuring the best possible future in every aspect.'

WT4 does that mean?

I suspect she was attracted to the bright light of her phone screen.
