There are plenty of members on here who repeatedly post that there is no risk from COVID out in the world and/or they believe they personally have no risk from COVID, mountains of evidence notwithstanding. Some even deny that the COVID virus really exists.

 

Also, the poster above wasn't commenting to you, but rather, a different COVID denier / dismisser.

We lost my wife's brother (for the serial dim wits that was my brother in-law), and his daughter (our niece) to covid.

There have been screeds of debates over the last few years, both here and around the world, as to the effectiveness of vaccines, and if masks, social distancing, washing / dissinfecting hands etc. actually work. We have been lucky enough, so far to avoid it but it is real and it is out there. However, we did follow protocol and advice from medical experts regarding all of the precautions and I seriously believe that - that did help in neither of us contracting Covid.

We still have the conspiracy theorists and those that refuse to wear masks because they are petulent over being forced to previously, but I still believe that doing something to try and protrect yourself and your family is better than doing nothing. No harm in at least trying to be sensible is there?

When I feel unwell and have to go out into the public areas to get supplies, I wear a mask, as I do not want 

to spread what ever I have to others.

Anti maskers like Bill S, seem to forget that I do not want to catch whatever disease he may have as well.

We double mask just to be on the safe side. I see no harm in taking the extra precaution. We have had all our boosters, everything is up to date and we will continue to follow the medical experts advice. It takes very little effort even in Thailand to stay safe.

By now, close to 100% of the population has developed some degree of immunity because of infection with Covid, often even unaware of it, or vaccination, or both.

 

The basic conern now should be to prevent overloading the hospitals with Covid patients, particularly in intensive care units. 

 

Reporting the number of persons who tested positive seems totally useless. If reports are published, they should only be about ICU cases, perhaps alongside the number of remaing free beds in ICU.

 

People die every day, with or without Covid, but if the authorities keep statistic of Covid deaths, let them publish them if it makes them happy, preferably alongside traffic accident deaths for comparison.

 

Free vaccination should ideally be recommended and offered free of charge to old persons, eg 70 years and older, other persons at increased risk, eg with relevant pre-existing conditions, and perhaps also children, as they may not yet have a strong general immune system.

 

Mask wearing could be imposed by hospitals and other health care institutions and old people's homes for for their staff and for visitors, where considered important.

That is only from one hospital. but the news is also only focusing on these numbers in their stories. What happened to the statistics from the other 1000 hospitals? the city, the country? 

Buddha forbid the actual numbers ever get released making Thailand look bad. 

Either way, Covid has become less than the flu in symptoms now. So why make such a big deal out of it.

So really, face masking is a two-fer, or three-fer or more... N95s and similar, when worn properly and consistently, protect against COVID, protect against PM2.5, protect against flu and RSV, etc etc.

 

N95 masks can if worn correctly be a barrier to covid . However the emphasis is on " worn correctly " .When I was  working in a chemical industry environment that required all persons working there to be tested for the correct fitting to their face . Many men , nearly 30 % could not achieve a seal , due to their facial features and certainly not for those with facial hair . N95 masks are not comfortable to wear for long periods . 

Medical masks were designed to stop the transfer of aerosol  droplets from the wearer to a patient . They should be a single use only . They do not give protection against small particles for the wearer because there is not a tight seal around the wearers cheeks . The majority of those who caught covid in the UK did wear a medical mask ( me included ) , in order to comply with the laws .

Got covid last year on a visit to Thailand. Showed my vax card. They gave me some pills and told me to go home. Couple of weeks later I was running the streets..

Other than the fact that that is not the argument I made, you see wearing masks around people cos some in our communities are immune compromised is the argument I made. Come back when you get reading comprehension down
