@bob smith I no doctor .... but I been here long enough to know the difference between too much spicy food and the squirts. For anything that lasts more than a couple of days and is just stinky

After a few days, you're prob past the phase where antibiotics would help. Drink electrolytes and sleep a lot.

Tell us about the curry. In England, I had the super-hot Phaal Curry. Def. a colon blaster. Invented in Bradford, I think.

It was a thai green curry.

probably the chicken in it that did it.

im sat on the bog now as I type this 😩

You're at the stage where you possibly have Salmonella now. I'd wallop in a load of Imodium or similar and see what happens

If its still coming out in rivers than trouble

I worked in a Government setting in 1984 when I had it and was off work for 13 weeks (am not joking) because was not allowed to mix with other workers until 3 clear tests (weekly) had occured

I discovered a wonderful development whilst working in India (Bengaluru).

The hotel bathroom was designed so that you could sit on the lav. and throw-up in the sink at the same time :whistling:

As above ^^^, bang in some Immodium, that should at least stem the flood.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

How many baht did it cost? I never ear street food (other than 3-4 roti a year).

Will you go off green curry now?

For me, it's usually a very ungreeny letdown. Massaman too (too sweet).

Red curry seems to most reliably deliver the curry goods. Yellow is almost never seen on a Chiang Mai menu.

Yellow curry is a tourist dish, Thais don't eat it.

It's def for real down south. The yellow-making turmeric aspect has Muslim roots. 'Had some nice ones in Hua Hin.

I take norfloxacin - relief within a day

Check with your pharmacist, but ask for dysentary medication - does not sound to me like you're in Imodium territory anymore

Sorry, read online or ask a knowledgeable doctor, only use Imodium in an emergency where a toilet is unavailable---Imodium is an "anti-motility" drug, stopping the muscles that make you poo--it does nothing to help the situation and actually can do more harm if used unnecessarily.  The "runs" is your body's effort to empty itself of the bacteria that is causing the problem--Imodium just "locks" up this stuff inside your body--as advised by other posters, drink lots of water and be sure to take the electrolytes--Gatorade, or easily available at most 7-11's and pharmacies, which is powder mixed with water--very important to take those.  But, unless, traveling or a toilet is unavailable, don't fall for the myth that imodium is good for you--let your body rid itself of all that bacteria.  Same when one vomits--ur body is purging what is causing the problem--you would rarely ever take an anti-vomit drug (unless directed by a doctor for very particular reasons)--if you plug yourself up with Imodium, you are literally letting that "crap" fester inside your gastro system--let your body do its job as unpleasant as it may be.

.....Wiki tells me that Yellow Curry was adapted from the British Navy's use of yellow curry powder. It's sweeter and less spicy than trad Thai curries. Throw in more chili and it's called Sour Curry (again mostly found in The South).

So is it authentic? It dates back to the mid-19th century. So I say its authentic by now.

******************************

You might be aware that norfloxacin, like other related drugs, may have very serious and permanent side effects--in the US, it carries that is called a "black box warning" for all doctors and pharmacists and is to be used when all other antibiotics may have failed in helping---below is an example of the most serious side effects (and i have had family members and friends be prescribed levofloxacin, a related drug and too often prescribed for  minor respiratory problems) and had these very side effects that lingered for years.

Norfloxacin may cause swelling or tearing of a tendon (the fiber that connects bones to muscles in the body), especially in the Achilles' tendon of the heel. This effect may be more likely to occur if you are over 60, if you take steroid medication, or if you have had a kidney, heart, or lung transplant.

As I shared, family members and friends, quickly discontinued use of this drug due to strong tendon problems, and even after stopping, the aches lingered for years.

everyone has that one story of when they accidented themselves. good on you bobby for being brave enough to tell.

you made people read about your farts. that's highly impressive.

that's why billionaires need to build underground bunkers.

because people are getting stupider and stupider.

1 Don't stray too far from the toilet.

2 Take a couple of Imodium or mix  spoon of corn flour in a little water and drink, it does the same job as the medicine but tastes like crap  :sorry:

Seems its progressed from the verbal phase !

1.   Stay well hydrated and take electolyte replacement solutions such as :

  - electrolyte packets available at all 7-11 s

  - green coconut water

  - Lime or orange juice from vendor (the kind they add salt and sugar to and make in blender)

2. Take activated Charcoal  (available from 7-11 brand name Car-Bon or something like that)

You will know you are adequately hydrated if you are urinating often and pale yellow color or clear. Dark urine = dehydrated

Limit immodium to when absolutely necessary (e.g. if you have to travel somewhere) as it is better to let everything come out

Do nto self medicate with antibiotics, if later you need a stool culture it will just confuse the clinical picture

See doctor/go to ER if:

  • If you are unable to take fluids by mouth
  •  Have high fever
  • It persists more than a week or so
  • there is blood in the stools
  • there is severe or unusual abdominal pain

I experienced the same thing about thirty years ago in Udaipur, India. After a bad meal, it was coming out of both ends at the same time, and luckily the toilet and the sink in my hotel bathroom were placed in such a way that I could do both while seated. Maybe that is so common in India that they design the bathrooms that way?

Yes, coconut water is an excellent balanced electrolyte solution. And tastes better than the packets. But nto as easy to stock up on/store at home.

@bob smith forgot to mention, the activated charcoal will make your stool black, not to be confused with blood.

Funny. He enjoyed telling you as part of the overall narcissism. Only thing better would be to diffuse the smell remotely through your phone or computer monitor.

Corn flour should help. It won't actually stop your diarrhea but should thicken it up a little bit.
