Two motorbike taxi drivers, commonly referred to as “Win,” in Pattaya, were arrested on Monday, January 1st, 2024, following a physical assault against a foreign tourist over a parking spot on Second Road.

The assault, captured on video and posted on Thai social media by passersby, occurred on December 30th, 2023, during Pattaya’s recent New Year’s Eve festivities from December 29th to the 31st.

The clip portrayed two Thai Win drivers, clad in orange vests, ganging up on a lone foreign tourist of unknown origin beside Pattaya Second Road outside Central Pattaya shopping mall. The two drivers were seen ferociously punching and kicking the unidentified foreigner while he attempted to defend himself and escape. Another foreigner, a female possibly with the victim, tried to help the lone victim before both of them walked away from the scene.

This is actually one of the better news reports I have read, and it starts the New Year off well, IMO.

The victims never even complained to the cops, but the villians were caught, and (slightly) punished.

I think it shows the seriousness the cops are now taking attacks against foreigners lately, to try and increase tourism.

Hope the couple had their wounds tended to, and are not badly hurt.

So the victim never came forward.  But the two drivers were found and arrested anyway.  They admitted it and only fined 1000 each.  And the typical two against or even more against one.  Sounds like they

“ learned”  their lesson to me.  Yeah right.

Not sure what this exactly means? Arrested and released with a fine? Arrested and detained? Story is very vague about it. With Pattaya reputation it most likely means they paid a fine (500 baht) then warned about such behavior. They really could not arrest,, charge and convict these men for the crime without a victim testifying. So I do not see them being detained.

What we have here is a failure to communicate......

Foreigners who have God given rights that cover the globe, and locals who have birthright by virtue of being born here, to  rule over all  things happening on  the soil.

Can't we all just get along!

The farang was lucky it wasn't the usual 7-1 odds; are Thais getting braver?

He's lucky his vehicle wasn't damaged - I had a piece of wood with a nail through it  resulting in a new tire after I parked in a 'forbidden' place.

Can I pay 1,000thb to savagely beat someone I don’t like?

Somehow, I think there will be a far more severe punishment for foreigners engaging in similar, cowardly attacks.

With fines of 1,000thb?

Not an insignificant amount for a Win.

The article is clear, they could be arrested, they were arrested, both were fined B1,000 after admitting the assault and released.

You are insulting animals, they are lower than animals, maybe amoeba?

Most of these blanket insults here against Thais fall into the ANF Poster Boomerang Indicator category.

Maybe the cops can do something about the aggressive deck chair vendors on parts of Jomtien Beach, who tell you that you're not allowed to park your car in the marked public parking spaces as "they're for our customers only". Of course, they can't actually stop you parking there, but if you do then don't be surprised when you return to find that your car's been keyed.

It's hard to find any parking on 2nd road. I use the connecting Soi's to avoid instances like this.

A few days ago I went to visit Walking Street and needed to park my motorbike just off 2nd Rd, there was some Thai guy squatting in the shadows that looked like a homeless guy just hanging out there, as I park my bike he comes towards me and said "20 baht parking".  I simply backed out and parked at some other place about 20-30 meters around the corner, free.

Guys that think the public streets are their own money making business are a pain in the backside.
