The ball is in Hamas's court yet again. Why aren't the protestors shouting for this.

Blinken says he hopes Hamas takes ‘extraordinarily generous’ truce offer, hostage deal, makes ‘right decision’
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — US Secretary of State Antony Blinken says he is hopeful Hamas would accept an “extraordinarily generous” offer to halt Israel’s offensive in Gaza in return for the release of hostages.
“Hamas has before it a proposal that is extraordinarily, extraordinarily generous on the part of Israel,” Blinken says in Riyadh at the World Economic Forum.
“They have to decide — and they have to decide quickly,” Blinken says. “I’m hopeful that they will make the right decision.”

Far-right allies of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are raising pressure on the embattled leader to reject a new Gaza ceasefire, jeopardising his government's stability if he backs away from an assault on Hamas in Rafah.
However, if a ceasefire is agreed, the attack plans will be shelved in favour of a "period of sustained calm", according to a source briefed on the talks, during which a few dozen hostages of Hamas will be released in return for Palestinian prisoners.
On Sunday, Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich urged Netanyahu not to back away from a ground offensive against Hamas in Rafah, even as the premier is grappling with pressure from international allies to scrap assault plans due to the risk of high civilian casualties and a humanitarian disaster.
But a ceasefire would be a humiliating defeat, Smotrich said in a video he released to the press and addressed to Netanyahu. If it fails to stamp out Hamas, "a government headed by you will have no right to exist," he said.

Gaza war: US 'hopeful' Hamas will accept Israel's new ceasefire offer

The US secretary of state hopes Hamas will accept what he has called Israel's "extraordinarily generous" offer for a Gaza truce and hostage release deal.
Antony Blinken was speaking as a Hamas delegation discussed the new proposal with mediators from Egypt and Qatar.
A source close to the talks told the BBC they were cautiously optimistic.
The proposal includes a 40-day truce in return for the release of hostages and the prospect of displaced families being allowed back to northern Gaza.
It reportedly also involves new wording on restoring calm meant to satisfy Hamas's demand for a permanent ceasefire.

Blinken Is Sitting on Staff Recommendations to Sanction Israeli Military Units Linked to Killings or Rapes
A special State Department panel told Secretary of State Antony Blinken that the U.S. should restrict arms sales to Israeli military units that have been credibly accused of human rights abuses. He has not taken any action.

A special State Department panel recommended months ago that Secretary of State Antony Blinken disqualify multiple Israeli military and police units from receiving U.S. aid after reviewing allegations that they committed serious human rights abuses.

In the case of a fifth unit, Washington has not yet determined whether there has been sufficient remediation and was still in discussions with Israel, he said.

CAIRO (25 April 2024) – The Occupied Palestinian Territory is enveloped in a spiral of unstoppable violence, with stories Palestinians and other witnesses relay adding new depths to atrocities the world has witnessed since the beginning of Israel’s assault on Gaza over six months ago, the UN Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, Francesca Albanese said today.

“The pace and intensity with which this violence has spread to the rest of the occupied territory confirms that no Palestinian is safe under Israel’s unfettered control,” Albanese said, concluding a visit to Egypt and Jordan.

The Special Rapporteur said Israel had once again arbitrarily denied her access to the Occupied Palestinian Territory, compelling her to report on the situation of Palestinians under occupation from neighbouring states.

Your in good company Chef. Albanese an antisemitic Oct 7th apologist. Anything to distract from the world waiting for the end of this war and it being directly in the hands of Hamas.

Israel fears ICC will issue arrest warrants for Netanyahu and other top officials

The country is working through diplomatic channels to try to stop the warrants from being issued by the International Criminal Court, an Israeli official told NBC News.

Israel is greatly concerned that the International Criminal Court may issue arrest warrants for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and senior military officials as early as this week, an Israeli official told NBC News.

Israel is working through diplomatic channels to try to stop the warrants being issued, the official said Monday.

When asked about media reports of the arrest warrants, the ICC told NBC News that it “has an ongoing independent investigation in relation to the Situation in the State of Palestine" and that "we have no further comment to make at this stage."

‘Screams Before Silence’: Sheryl Sandberg releases documentary on Hamas sex crimes on October 7

The aim of the film, titled ‘Screams Before Silence’ and fronted by former Meta COO Sheryl Sandberg, is to highlight sexual violence perpetrated by Hamas during and after the terror group’s devastating massacre on southern Israel, when terrorists killed some 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and kidnapped 253, triggering an ongoing war in Gaza.

Clips from the hour-long film have been published in recent months, including interviews with female hostages released in a November truce.

Warning — the documentary includes graphic content.

Israeli Minister Reportedly Asks IDF To Kill Palestinians Instead Of Arresting Them

The alleged comments are not the first time that far-right Itamar Ben-Gvir has called for executing Palestinian captives to manage overcrowding in prisons.

Whereas the Hamas authorities mainly responsible are absent from immediate threat in Gaza the rhetoric from Netanyahu and close allies negates any trust in promises made by the Israeli authorities.

The original ultimatum to avert total destruction of Gaza was to  release all captives. A proposal guaranteed to eventuate in Gaza oblivion.

The latest offering does seem more rational as a step toward resolution except that the focus remains  soley on Gaza and Hamas operatives while ignoring the more insidious progression of illegal appropriation in the occupied territories.

Releasing "thousands" of illegally detained Palestinians only to see them or others similarly detained without charge yet again  is a sop to the issue.

Hamas official expresses opposition to latest hostage deal offer, but terror group says talks continue

Osama Hamdan, a Hamas official based in Lebanon, tells the Hezbollah-affiliated Al-Manar TV, “Our position on the current negotiating paper is negative.”

Hamas’s press office subsequently clarifies, “The negative position does not mean negotiations have stopped. There is a back-and-forth issue.”

The terror group is reportedly slated to submit an amended response to the latest proposal in the coming hours.

There are a lot of pro Israeli people ignorant of all the illegally detained Palestinians. They just focus on the Israeli prisoners/hostages.

Your anti Israel bias is so extreme. You couldn't call the hostages the Hamas terrorists took just hostages. You had to qualify that by suggesting they are prisoners.

I find it funny that if there is comment on anything to do with Hamas it's disgusting, antisemitism and similar rhetoric, but if it's from the Israeli side, it's all justifiable and Israel can only be doing good things, and it's never the fault of the Israeli's.

Nobody ever said that and to suggest that they did is incredibly sleazy.

Freeing hostages and bringing the perpetrators of Oct 7 th to justice is indeed justification for the war in Gaza , stopping any more terror attacks is also justification for the war

Hostage are taken prisoner or not?

In some reasonable thinking the Israeli arrests of thousands without admission of good cause equates to hostage taking.

Israel has info that the arrested people are planning terror attacks on Israel , the people are not arrested randomly .

Israel accused of possible war crime over killing of West Bank boy

As part of an investigation into the conduct of Israel's security forces in the West Bank, which has been under military occupation for more than half a century, the BBC has pieced together what happened on the day the two boys were killed.

Mobile phone and CCTV footage, information about the movements of Israel's military, witness testimony and detailed investigation of the scene, including taking measurements, combine to reveal evidence suggesting serious human rights violations.

The evidence we found has prompted Ben Saul, UN special rapporteur on human rights and counter-terrorism, to say the death of Adam appears to be a "war crime".
