On May 29th, a kangaroo was spotted at the entrance of Doi Suthep, slightly past Wat Sisoda, in Chiang Mai province, according to a video shared by CM108 Chiang Mai News on Facebook. The marsupial was found around 8:20 a.m., causing quite a buzz amongst social media users.

A Facebook user named Tun Chanachai posted a video of the kangaroo, asking, "Did you fall off or what?"

Since the post was shared, several comments have poured in from users sharing their reactions. Some suggested the kangaroo must've escaped from a nearby zoo, while others expressed concerns about the animal's safety, worrying it might be hurt in a traffic incident or be harmed by someone. Some even made light of the situation, suggesting the kangaroo was enjoying some travel time.

Overall, the unexpected appearance of the kangaroo has caught the attention of many, leaving them wondering about the circumstances that led to this unusual sighting.

Why the single quotation marks in the headline?

They discovered a 'kangaroo' suggests that it wasn't an actual kangaroo, but the photo suggests that it was.

You beat me to it...

Maybe it was a wallaby, so pending formal identification it was described as a ‘kangaroo’?

Reminds me of the escaped rampaging elephant in Honolulu and the shock people experienced when encountering it.

it's too big for a wallaby.

Fantastic, but apparently an 'animal lover' doesn't like your joke.

In Thailand with Visa Free Tourist from Australia? Any Thais speak Kangroo as tour guides?

That would be my guess although I've never been through that zoo.

Otherwise it would be extremely rare that someone smuggled it into the country...but this is Thailand.

We have them "Wild Wallabies" in Surrey,  England. I saw one on a hunt I was riding in 2000. I kept it to myself until I was asked "Did you see the kangaroo"? Phew I thought it was the SlowGin. True story.

There was a colony of them for many years in the Peak District, first sighted after WW2.

Cheers never new that. Was told the ones in Surrey escaped a zoo after a massive storm and thrived. Not quite as bad as rabbits in Australia.

Could be here to learn Muay Thai but got beaten and humiliated by a Kung Fu student and bolted for the airport?
