An 11-year-old girl in Buriram, Thailand, has allegedly been raped twice by a 52-year-old neighbour, sparking a desperate plea for justice from her family. Despite reporting the assaults to the police, progress has been limited, leaving the family frustrated and the young victim in constant fear.

 

Nui, the girl's 47-year-old mother, first became aware of the situation on March 12 when her daughter complained of pain. Initially brushing it off, Nui later learned the horrifying truth. The child revealed that the neighbour had raped her on March 11 and 12, following a separate assault attempt during a village event on April 19, witnessed by the neighbour’s wife.

 

Upon witnessing the attempted rape, the neighbour’s wife yelled, "How could you do this?" which prompted the girl to confess the earlier assaults under threat of death if she spoke out. Nui immediately reported the incidents to Nong Ki Police Station, but the ensuing investigation saw little headway.

 

Medical exams confirmed signs of sexual assault, though no semen was found due to the interruption of the April attempt. The neighbour’s family attempted to settle the matter with financial offers first of 10,000 baht (£230) and later 50,000 baht (£1,150), which Nui declined, demanding legal justice instead.

 

“They think we are poor and will accept money instead of justice,” Nui stated, emphasising her determination to see the perpetrator held accountable.

 

The police’s handling of the case has been criticised. On June 8, Nui and her daughter travelled 30 kilometres for a scheduled interview, only to be told the officer was off-duty. This isn’t the first time and has caused the family financial strain, having to hire transport for each visit.

 

“It feels like they are intentionally obstructing us by saying they are off-duty when we arrive as scheduled,” Nui said, frustrated by the continuous delays.

 

The ordeal has had a severe impact on the young girl, who now faces bullying at school and lives in fear, often staying with relatives in other villages to feel safe.

 

“She is terrified every time she hears his car. We have to take her to stay with relatives in other villages to ease her fear,” Nui shared, highlighting the ongoing trauma.

 

Nui is calling for intervention from authorities to expedite the case and protect her daughter from further harm, seeking justice amid a challenging and painful situation for her impoverished family.

....we can conclude that the victim comes from a poor family

Just how often does this happen? This is not the first time, but there have been multiple paedophilia cases such as this. Poor families that have trouble getting by and not being able to finance a proper investigation.....and IMO, the cops won't act for free!

Removal from office those that won't do their jobs, and severe punishment for those hurting children is the start of the beginning of the end of corruption. Money buys off too many guilty of despicable crimes, and this says you can do whatever you want, as long as you know the right person or have enough money to grease the palms.

I wrote a couple of days ago, after another child assault in that her mother hired her daughter out for sex, that it was just part of the culture, and I was questioned about that claim. Assaulting young girls happens so frequently, often at schools who then try to cover it up, does make it part of the culture in my view, Underlined by the fact that the police rarely investigate, as in this case. It's just seen as part of life in Thailand, part of the culture. Nothing to see here. Move on.

She is holding out for 100,000. Justice means nothing in Thailand if the bribe is big enough.

And that is exactly how the system works here......however...removing cops that don't do their job has rarely happened.....if it did happen when it should, half the force would be planting rice!

Eventually, if enough people complained, and didn't give in, something might be done, and they should be paying attention, because every incident that happens here gets out to the world public, and will reduce their tourist dollars, which is enough incentive to make changes.
