A witness, Ms. Kritaporn Ajanikij, stated that she had heard of a bitter argument between the couple and a male employee from Myanmar. The employee has not been seen since July 11th when he was seen leaving the scene on the owner's motorbike.

 

 

 

Long-time friends and customers, 57-year-old Mr. Phan and Mr. Thong (who asked to keep his surname private), stated the eatery had been shut since July 11th. The restaurant, when checked by a family member of Ms. Poolprakhon, was locked from inside. The Pattaya police were called, and upon breaking into the premises, they found the bodies.

 

Mr. Phan thinks the employee from Myanmar, who is between 25 to 30 years old, might be involved in the murder due to a possible robbery motive. The police are currently investigating this claim.

 

The authorities are also processing other evidence found at the crime scene and are awaiting more information from the forensic team. They have a prime suspect named Mr. Min Lwin OO, a 21-year-old from Myanmar. This individual is believed to have ridden off on the victim's motorbike, as seen on surveillance footage captured on July 11th around 11:19 pm. The police are currently trying to locate Mr. OO and interview additional witnesses, reported by The Pattaya News.

so not surprising to see such acts in Pattaya where the place has multitude of nationalities each with their own agendas...

They are opening the floodgates in Thailand with Visa exempt, 8 weeks stays (that can be extended) for nearly all........in the absence of criminal record checks we will get all types  coming to test the local police. We know they are not up to the job!

But even if illegally working , which I don’t condone either, does it give the employer the right to underpay them, treat them  like slaves, or beat them. Often, they have work permits but the employer would rather pay them under the table, as they know that the poor will accept. A lady I know who runs a successful restaurant told me years back that’s how it generally works. She has at least 6 foreigners working and they all earn the legal wage, the hours are respected, they mostly speak very good English and perfect Thai. And they actually turn up for work and don’t disappear into thin air for no feasible reason . When I lived in Phuket , my small condo building was run by Burmese , completely. owned by a Thai .   I stayed there around 10 years and the staff were always the same.

The way I heard it the Burmese were stealing from him and as such any demand for salary might be shaky. None of it justifies murder.

Is this real ? God. You hire desperate stragglers and then treat them like slaves ? What did this good ol Iranian man expect ? He evidently got away with it for a long time.

Often no running water or individual electricity and horrible living conditions, and all for earning a pittance ! When I hear stories like the one above it doesn’t surprise me, and no, I don’t condone the persons actions or any type of violence. Foreign workers have absolutely no rights in Thailand as we have seen many times in the past. ( the Fishery slaves, Koh Tao , etc ).

The bad living conditions is to be expected. But I didn't know that physical abuse was part of it.
