Thailand has been rated the fourth most beautiful country globally in a survey conducted by usnews.com. The nation gained recognition for its breathtaking landscapes, historical sites, and the perfect blend of traditional and modern elements in its urban areas. In the "adventure" category of the US News 2023 Best Countries rankings, Thailand followed New Zealand, Greece, and Italy, bolstering its reputation as a top tourist attraction worldwide.

 

Within the more extensive Best Countries rankings, Thailand secured the 29th position, evaluated on various elements like cultural influence, entrepreneurship, and quality of life. Switzerland, Canada, Sweden, Australia, and the United States were declared the leaders of this list.

 

 

Recently, a local magazine named Bangkok as the leading city in the Asia-Pacific area. Furthermore, the islands of Phuket and Samui received high rankings compared to other island locations in the Asia-Pacific region. In another accomplishment, CEOWORLD magazine chose Thailand as the top country to visit in your lifetime for 2024, and Phuket's Maya Beach was listed among the top five beaches worldwide by BeachAtlas.

 

Encouraged by these acknowledgements, the Thai government is doubling its efforts to promote tourism. It has set out plans to attract more foreign tourists in 2025. These plans include targeted campaigns to stimulate off-season travel and strategies to promote lesser-known provinces' tourism. The goal is to distribute the benefits of tourism evenly across the country, reported by The Pattaya News.

Thailand does have some beautiful places, but overall, it must rate as one of the ugliest countries in the world.

thailand is so breathtaking that for many months a year, breathing is a real health danger with global air quality in the dangerzone

needs to look at its trash problem.  there's a lot of litter on the floor

I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but living in Thailand for  20 + years and travelled the country  top to bottom, I  have never found any place that I would call beautiful,  pollution, garbage, and ugly, is what I have  found most of ...

Well, it used to be - before most of them plumped up over the past decade or so after adopting an American junk food diet.

What level of credibility does US News have, when it comes to judging Thailand on it's beauty? 

 

I have traveled to 50 countries or so. Thailand does have pretty areas, but is not even in the top 30. Italy is one of the most beautiful. Thailand is nowhere close. Can one compare Bangkok to Florence? Or Pattaya to Venice? Or Pai to Tuscany? Please. Such desperation. 

Type "Thailand's Architecture" into google and apart from a few pockets in some towns and cities, only temples will emerge from your search! Mind you, there are about 30,000 of them.

 

I wonder how high on the world list would Thai architecture be considered "beautiful".

Most towns, road after road of the same dirty, boring concrete monstrosities!

I've seen around 25 countries and other than Tunisia, Thailand is the scruffiest.

There's plenty to keep me coming back, but beauty is definitely not one of them.

Those living the good life in Isaan, watch out.  Russians and Chinese and Arabs coming soon.  Once they find a place they like, they spread the word and come in droves.
