The incident occurred on Highway 36 near a PTT gas station in Pong, heading towards Rayong, involving a collision between a motorcycle and an 18-wheeler truck that fled the scene. The crash resulted in the death of a male motorcyclist. Authorities are appealing to the public for any dashcam footage that could help identify the truck involved in this fatal hit-and-run incident.

The accident took place in Pong subdistrict, Bang Lamung district, Chonburi province, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Nong Prue Police Station. Emergency services arrived swiftly at the scene, but unfortunately, the motorcyclist, whose identity has not yet been released, had already succumbed to his injuries. His body was taken to Bang Lamung Hospital for further examination and to await identification by family members.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing the motorcyclist traveling on the inbound lane towards Rayong when the 18-wheeler truck, attempting to pass another vehicle and collided with the motorcycle. The impact was severe, and the truck driver fled the scene immediately after the crash, leaving the motorcyclist fatally injured on the road.

Local authorities are treating the incident as a hit-and-run and have called on anyone who may have been driving in the area at the time of the accident to review their dashcam footage for any clues that could lead to the identification of the 18-wheeler involved. Footage can be submitted to the Nong Prue Police Station or directly to the investigating officers.

Police are conducting a thorough investigation and are hopeful that the public will come forward with information that will help bring the driver to justice.

Yet another hit and run.

Anyone doing this needs to be prosecuted.

They will be if they are caught.  That's why they flee.

The comment you answered probably meant it should be a severe extra penalty for doing a runner, which is not so much today.

2 years mandatory for fleeing an accident, on top of any other charges.

Assuming the motorcycle was in the lefthand lane how could the truck combo has hit him when overtaking?

Thai drivers have the idea that a motorcycle is no problem and don't care when passing other cars. They believe we can just avoid them quickly by "getting out of the way"! I have experienced that a number of times on my MC tours around in Thailand.

On ThePattayaNews, it says the CCTV shows the motorcycle crossing from the far left lane to the far right lane (to make a U-TURN) where it was hit by a truck that was travelling in the far right lane, so why the trucker ran is odd, as he was more than likely not at fault.
