Of course BKK might have some higher numbers right now due to traffic

Quite clear & fresh in Li, Lamphun currently.  Although, someone will begin burning excess longan cuttings around here which have been cut in the longan orchards, then smoke will appear.

Shh ... you'll expose the facts.  4-6 months of unhealthy air vs the ...

... 'not a problem'

... 'I see blue skies'

... 'only a couple months a year'

It's only a couple months a year where I live.  Any further north, and it's horrendous, almost 6 months a year, if not more in some spots.

This is still Sept, and burning season is sometimes till the end of May, when the later then normal rainy season kick in.

Late Sept, Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr early May

Even here, slight break in rainy season, so folks are taking advantage and burning what they couldn't the past weeks ...

This part isn't too much of an issue ...

Having own PurpleAir sensor, I was not particularly shocked (after looking out the window) that it showed AQI 150+ yesterday morning.

It has somewhat improved today, showing 67 AQI right now, with 19.77 PM2.5 and 20.40 PM10 in Bang Sue.

I really don't see the fuss.....time and time again the government have stated clearly that they are monitoring the AQI in real time......relax.

Yet another reason to move back to Texas....................https://aqicn.org/map/texas/

N America does get a few things right ... 👍

We get about 2 months of AQI in 100+/-, rest of the year is fine.  Can't say that about the fecal count or clarity of the surf (Gulf).

In the rainy season the sky is mostly covered by clouds, duh.

Most of the year it is pretty fine, we have had lovely skies in Bangkok for the past couple of months when it hasn't been raining. Burning season is not fine but looking at NASA's live fire tracker it is mostly from fires in Myanmar and Cambodia - perhaps 30% from fires in northern Thailand.

I wish they could solve it but I don't see how as it is mostly from neighbouring countries. I believe Singapore bought many of the farms in Indonesia to stop the burning. Here is a picture I took from the top of the Marina Bay Sands in 2013. You could taste the air. That is not rain, it is pure pollution, it was choking -  AQI of 401!!! Imagine that! Bangkok is heavenly today by comparison.

Just go Fred, too many times the same thing has been posted. Get back to where "nobody messes with you"

As soon as I can re-establish in a new house, I go. Not easy to move ,let alone around the world.

The Gulf isn't too bad, and it's sad that so many beautiful beaches in Thailand are getting ruined by tourists and pollution.

A harbinger of things to come.  We all know what to expect come December, January, February and March.  The yearly cycle gets worse every year.  Starting earlier and ending later.  What to do?

Seems to be getting worse year after year.

Not really.  People are just starting to pay attention and realize it.   I've been pointing it out for literally decades, and always told I'm mistaken.

Glad people are finally starting to wake, open their eyes, look at a AQI / PM2.5 meter every now & then.   Instead of, looking out the window, seeing the house across the street, and think it's another clear day ... :cheesy:

If you can't see a hillside clearly, at least 10 kms away, then the air you're breathing is unhealthy.

Yes, june, july, august.  Used to be september , october were ok also.  Keeps getting shorter every year, especially in Bangkok.  Things get really bad from December to May when they burn all of the sugar fields.  Half the year- absolutley horrendous.

Keep out of Bangkok. just checked Udon Thani AQI, currently 11. Outside of rainy season usually moderate, between 50-100. But always worse on the major roads. I did buy an air purifier years ago, last used about 3 years ago....
