Pattaya City - At 4:30 a.m. on October 19th, 2024, Pol. Lt. Apinan Srithongrungthip, Deputy Inspector (Investigation) of the Banglamung Police Station, was alerted to a pickup truck accident that caused significant damage in Nongprue, near Pattaya. The incident occurred in front of the Sukun Piem drugstore on Soi Khao Talo.

Upon arrival, authorities found a black Ford Ranger with Chonburi license plates that had crashed into a local drugstore. The vehicle then veered into a hotel building and collided with a parked sedan, leaving the front of the truck severely damaged with broken wheels. The driver, identified only as Mr. Pilarinos, a 47-year-old Australian, sustained minor injuries, while his girlfriend, who wasn’t identified, also in the vehicle, was uninjured.

Initially, the unidentified girlfriend claimed to be the driver, stating that she was inexperienced and caused the crash. However, a witness and photos taken from bystanders confirmed she was actually not driving, leading her to admit that the Mr. Pilarinos was actually the person behind the wheel. She also acknowledged they had been drinking alcohol prior to the accident, said Police Lt. Apinan.

Looks like a terrible accident.  Another drunk Aussie doing something stupid.

So it works.

Police waiting for a call about suspicious driving, then go and administer a breathalyzer test.

Gotcha...

Yep. If having a couple of beers before driving it is more important to follow every road rule and especially slow down.

Some people have a few, it goes to their head and they drive like idiots.
Plenty of drink drivers in Pattaya, thankfully most of them drive sensibly.

Did it on a Friday night which will mean he will be in the lock up until court on Monday morning.

The  iced up Ladyboys in his cell will show him a good time.

Hope he stays in jail until he foots the bill .

4.30am 19/10 is more Saturday morning than 18/10 Friday night.

But yes, he'll stay in the Banglamung police station pokey till Monday morning!

Why are tourists buying or renting cars in the first place and why would a tourist even be driving in the middle of the morning on the other side of Sukhumvit on the "dark side"? Usually tourists stay in Central Pattaya and have no need to venture over past Sukhumvit themselves.

Perhaps, or more likely tucked up in his own bed and 20,000 baht lighter.

Getting over his hangover on the concrete floor, with limited access to water in a cell with a bunch of hyped up sexual perverts until Monday morning.

His surname sounds Greek, he might be up for a bit of Greek style action.

It is a cultural thing.

With a good Greek name, I wonder if his grandfather once owned a Fish and Chip shop or a Milk Bar in Aus

For the sad fool who replied I will make it simple

Did you bring a tinny   :wai:

A tinny was a common name for a beer can, prior to Aluminum being used
