  • If you don't even have 400k to leave in the bank and forget about you are not committed to being here, and probably should not be. Thailand does not want, need or like foreign paupers, they have enoug

  • It's not unintentional - it's quite deliberate. Not enough money then you're not welcome.   It's clear as day and always has been.   If we bring some money with us then they tolerate

  • The only room for improvement will be the immigration raising the deposit requirement to 800k baht and I believe it will happen soon

What really gets up my nose here is that farang women married to Thai men do not have show finances to stay here. Farang woman married to a Thai living near me works as a school teacher. Her husband works when he wants to.

I just thought that it is wrong to say that she should have her own money. The quote from your previous post was as an example of your mysogyny, in my opinion.

Well, it ain't 1920 anymore: women are allowed to work; they ain't just housewives.

They aren't dependent children. They are empowered and liberated.

They have equality. Men should earn their own money too, right?

I think what I am saying is the opposite of misogyny.

That said, most Thai women want to be taken care of by a man and your money is her money (but her money is not your money, lol).

My EX put it very eloquently, "My money is my money. Your money is my money. Haha."

Get a job and a work permit. No need for 400,000 in the bank if extensions based on work permit.

If no job in Thailand, then work overseas, 400,000 or 40,000 per month should not be a problem.

If no need to work, 400,000 or 40,000 per month should not be a problem

If no job and no money, please explain what you are living on and how you are "supporting your Thai family"

What happens when you can no longer get a work permit (even if you can find enough work to get by)?

You would still need a work permit to work legally on a family visa.

Exactly as it should be.

What do you mean by "can no longer get a work permit"? There is no upper age limit.

Exactly.

Interesting.  I thought there was.  Maybe I was thinking of another country.  I did a quick Google search and can find no record of an age limit.  :jap:
