Walkabout Creek used to be good but I don't think it's there anymore ? Corner of South and Third.

The Boxing Roo along Third Road if that still exists?

Really helpful information,thanks!

Boxing Roo is still open. Now owned by a German guy.

So does that make it a German bar now?

Can I ask: Why is English called "POM"? If meaning is “Prisoner of His Majesty.” Why prisoner?

Also Kiwi & Wombat bar near soi 9 Jomtien beach road is a popular Aussie/NZ hangout

How could I have forgotten the Wombat! Used to spend time in there during Covid, hard on the knees going up to the rooftop bar.

You can take him for a meat pie at Tinnies in Jomtien, its on google maps, recommend the pepper pies.

Most Aussies like me stay hidden..

In addition to the info you are receiving on here re Aussie hangouts better advise your friend to watch out for plastered poms wandering about looking for trouble in the early hours.

They don't hang around in the ladyboy areas like the Oz guys do!

Not during Covid, when drinkers didn't want to be seen by the boys in brown.

Actually. any bar should work.

Wouldn’t it be better to guide into the bar with the best looking girls?

He can hang out with Bruce anytime in Australian pubs at home.

They do, I have met a few. Big beefy things, swear a lot, good drinkers and rough as guts. They make the Aussie men look a bit limp wristed.

The Australian tourist will be introduced to the other softer, feminine, happy side of women when here, and probably marry one.

After Captain Cook invaded Australia, and before millions of British 10quid boat people flocked to its shores, there were fleets of English criminals shipped there in the mistaken belief it was a form of punishment. This is where the term Pom originated.

Little did the authorities of the time know they were sending these people to a comparative paradise and setting up their descendants for a life far superior to the one at their point of origin.

I should have remembered that. Years ago in Manila watched half the Oz navy giggling as they tried to squeeze into a lady boy bar.

Think the pepper pie is 150B makes it a little over 6$, which is a meal in itself so unless your the big c or lotus Thai food court type of guy not expensive, my noodles at Lotus yesterday was 80, I think you might be to long away from home you might be shocked what a pie costs back home these days, the only other alternative is bake it yourself or those horrible pies in Big C which I aint buying again.

Well I been here 3 ys now full time, I would have handed over around 5 to 6$ at my local hot bread shop prior to coming here, 150B is $7.01 today, prices where like going up in front of our eyes like a cash register clicking over back home,  since I eat a pepper pie from Tinnys about 4 times a year, one is sitting in my freezer now, dont think having 4 in a year is going to make me any poorer than I already am, its seen as a treat, something from home, they have vanilla slices too...miss them, my mum use to buy one for me every now and then when I was a kid....taste of home mate, reminiscing,

Its all over soon, we are half way through the last quarter of our life if you want it buy it, I buy real Aussie beef too....buy it at Macro rather large piece, not really much cheaper but around 1600 slice it up enough to last me 6 months...real beef mate....sometimes you just wanna get your teeth into good old-fashioned Aussie red meat.....actualy I prefer chicken so beef is on the menu about once every 3 weeks..

Aussies are good drinkers. I had pleasure see it when I was drinking as well. We closed down plenty of bars....

For that reason this hotel may make sense now and then?

Instead of a new thread I'll just tag it in here. Anyone know of any big Australia Day parties on Sunday 26th?

I know Wombat & Kiwi Bar always do one as does I-Rovers in LK Metro. Any others?

Same as the above post, but for ANZAC Day.  I'll just post it here.  I-Rovers do a respectful ANZAC Day memorial service with quite a few in attendance.
