"Murderbot". Sounds interesting, but 3 episodes in and the rebel droid still hasn't offed any of the annoying box-ticking 'crew' he's supposed to be taking care of. Not wasting any more time on it. 🤪

I think Criminal Code S01 was well received here, A Brazilian police series

You can find the first episode of the new series in the usual places.

Thanks for the heads up @recom273. I enjoyed season 1.

I quite like Friends & Neighbours on AppleTV, the missus is also watching it, which is surprising.

Does anyone else find the Stereophonics theme tune for Long Way Home, really annoying? She's signing along with it all day too. It's drilling my brain.

Hopefully they will call it a day after this. The wife asked me what Charlie Boreman did, was he an actor? He hasn't acted for 20 years, I didnt know what the answer was.

Friends & Neighbours on AppleTV great show as is both The Studio and The Morning Show.

And its so short -actually -about 20 min of the program----- I've nearly had longer commercial brakes on some other USA shows ... pity it could have been good

I thought that Murderbot was an Apple TV series. Do you get commercials after paying a subscription?

I don't stream but was surprised by you seeing commercials.

I watched a movie I had downloaded a few days ago, called, "Strange Darling" and with reference to its title, it was rather strange, certainly not your everyday movie!

However it is worth staying with it, through its twists and turns and also because the film is divided into six "sections" and they are not shown in numerical order, which does mix up the plot a little, however it makes for an intriguing watch.

Cardinal (2017-2020)  Crime/Mystery

Acorn (BBC etc) are rerunning Cardinal (English language ) all 4 season 6 episode a season----  made in Canada

An adaptation of Giles Blunt's award-winning mystery novel "Forty Words for Sorrow",  It really is good Drama 7.8  ---some seasons over 8  IMDB

But very Dark. No series is the same crime---but there are connections so best to start at Season 1

PB has it all still from the beginning

I've just finished season 1 of  Dept. Q and enjoyed it. It got better as it progressed IMHO. I got it from TheRARBG.

I also watched it and thought that the ending was okay but did not tie up a lot of loose ends, and for me it left me wondering if there was going to be a second series, because there's certainly enough material to be taken further.

I enjoyed it all the same.

Seems like it was always intended to run for a few seasons more but nothing written as yet.

IMHO there has to be at least one more season because of the loose ends and in particular they didn't catch Morck's shooter(s) and why were the cops shot in the first place?

Stick, new series clearly going for the Ted Lasso comedy sports show hit space and it will probably work. This time it's golf and you don't need to like golf to like this show. Starring the very talented Owen Wilson. With an old comedian favorite of mine Marc Maron. If you liked Ted Lasso  and who didn't, you'll want to give Stick a try.

Taboo season 2

Season one was a great ---you can look at  it free on Utube or download  PB etc   Tom Hardy played a great role , very dark.

They have not given a date as yet---but so many promo's out there ----

first season is good if you have not seen---sort of Part Tom Hardy should play instead of some of the silly movies he has been connected with of late.

IMDB 8.3  Better video on IMDB

On that note, have you seen his "little-known" movie, "Locke", which I thought was quite brilliant and is a masterpiece of acting IMO.

This new Aussie series has good reviews.

When a young woman is killed in Evelyn Bay, the seaside town's tight-knit community begins to unravel as the investigation of her death exposes long-held secrets and past wounds.

I do not often agree with jing, but I like Owen Wilson.

I don't remember anything about s01 - but s02 of The Gold - a (docu-)drama about the Brinks-mat robbery starts on Monday - I don't remember a lot about it, but must have been half decent if it came up on my watch list.

I found the movie, "Ice Cold in Alex" on the BBC iPlayer and although it had a picture in colour, the actual movie was in black and white, and I decided to keep watching, mainly because I was familiar with the territory it was shot in – – i.e. Libya.

Two reasons for this, the first being that my father fought with Montgomery in North Africa, especially at the Battle of El Alamein, and the second being that I spent some time in Libya just after the Gadhafi revolution (times were a bit scary then) and then a few years later.

I later went from Benghazi and Tripoli down to the middle of the Sahara desert to the oilfields and had a few adventures there, one of which was being arrested by an irate Libyan soldier because I was drinking alcohol along with a few other guys, so he promptly put a loaded pistol to my head and I really thought that was it for me, especially as I and the other guys were marched outside and lined up against the wall by the Libyan soldiers who were carrying rifles; as you can see we weren't killed!

The second thing the movie did was to remind me of the oasis near the desert camp, which I visited a couple of times.

After that one of the guys found an old exploration map from BP which showed the sight of a World War II battle, so we set off on our trucks to have a look at it. It was quite a few miles north of our camp and had warning signs all around it, but that didn't deter us from going in and having a look around, during which time we found some old army trucks which had obviously been shelled by large bullets (we thought probably from a fighter plane) and another thing which caught my eye in the movie was where John Mills dug up an old tin, which supposedly had contained food (beans?) and I did exactly the same as it would appear that whatever soldiers were there had lit a fire and enjoyed some food out of tins, cut open by sharp knives by the looks of things!!!

The movie bought back so many memories of adventure and danger, and I'm glad I watched it all the way through, because initially I was tempted to turn it off as it was in black-and-white, but those memories that came flooding back were irreplaceable.
