The whole point was to prevent him from becoming President. Think what you want, but if you ask me, all it does is help signal to the the rest of the world how the Democratic Party pulled out all the stops to "get" Trump, and in the process helped turn the USA into just another banana republic.

Proof that Democrats are just as brainless as Republicans. Yes, these charges have looked suspect the entire time. And I'm no Trump supporter. I wish he had been knocked out of the race at the beginning. And you know what? He was largely on the way to being pushed out, when all these court trials started generating sympathy for him. Then, worse, while the trials were going on, the judges issued gag orders, which only helped Trump, because he couldn't say stupid things. Now, just when the H1B issue is revealing how he was bought out by Elon, here comes another act of judicial stupidity that will erase that topic and once again get him favorable polls. All when he should be getting hammered on going back on his word and previous campaign promises.

As I mentioned previously in another blog, Trump and Musk will eventually tire of each other.  Already there are some well publicized disagreements.  IMO, it is rather doubtful Musk will become the de facto president.  With Trump's ego, no way will it happen.
