Let's compare notes in 4 years OK?  I have a feeling your excitement will be somewhat diminished by then.

Americans are arithmatic and financial morons, so take any individual's claims of inflation with a grain of salt.

They see one price rise and extrapolate that one price over the entire economy, oblivious as to what inflation actually means. They also think inflation starts in a second, rather than being a result of factors happening months or even years before.

Inflation is based on a basket of goods and services it is assumed the average consumer buys. Price rises and falls are matched against the weight any one good or service has in the overall inde. These are then weighted and averaged out, and a number results.

The government has a basket it uses, but private sector companies construct their own basket and come up with a number. These numbers tend to be close to each other.

Inflation peaked in the last 4 years at about 9.5%, and is currently running about 2.5% +/- .2% It was never close to 20%. That is nonsense.

As for its cause, numerous factors contributed. The tax cut and funds handed out during Covid were a good portion of it, as 45 ran up $8,400,000,000,000 of new debt in his first term. Since the nominal GDP change was $trillions less than his new debt, that means printed money was chasing goods and services, and even the meager growth was totally debt fueled. Boom! Inflation. His debt equates to $25,000 for every man, woman and child in the US, so it is hardly any wonder that would lead to inflation.  Biden also doled out funds during Covid, so he shares some of the blame.

Other contributors were the Russian invasion of Ukraine, as that resulted in sharp rises in first oil, and then fetiliizer, which impacted agricultural prices. Bacon was hurt by an outbreak in the EU of Swine Flu, which is hardly Biden's fault.

Americans are stupid enough to blame Biden for inflation, but they will soon learn their chosen one has absolutely no clue how to bring any price down.

Maybe you should ask 47's buddies like Mnuchin and other oligarchs who gobbled up houses and raised rents.

I saw literally hundreds of reports and speeches during Kamala Harris's election campaign and not once did I hear her state what was patently obvious  - well at least obvious to most reasonable people - that post covid/Putin based inflation was affecting the entire world, it was not caused by Biden's policies. The US electorate should, you would have thought, known that anyway. However, listening to their comments during the election campaign, it seems they couldn't see the wood for the trees and they voted accordingly.

You have to wonder what Harris's campaign manager's were doing - they should have been telling her to hammer those matters home at every rally and during every speech.

I'm not a Biden supporter by any stretch of the imagination but I will never understand why so many Americans blamed him for inflation. Just as Obama left the US economy in pretty good shape for Trump in 2017. Biden has left it on the rise in 2025. I have absolutely no doubt at all that if it continues on an upward trajectory, Trump will claim its his doing.

Both the World Bank and the IMF have stated that whilst Trump's stated financial policies may create further stimulus in the short term, they will eventually create a downturn and actually become inflationary.

As we saw in 2008, when America sneezes, the rest of the world catches a cold. It would appear that there is real potential for Trump to instigate another worldwide recession. That may or may not happen during his term of office, if it happens at all but you can bet your last dollar that Trump will cry 'Witch Hunt' if anyone tries to blame him - just as he has every time he is blamed for anything or is charged with a crime.

So you've never heard the expression "When the US economy gets a cold, the world sneezes"?

For christsakes.  Taken out of context, everyone is a Nazi.  Catch a wave or a gesture at the right moment and you can claim that <enter the person you hate here> is a Nazi.  And I don't particularly like any of these people, but like Elon Musk, they ARE NOT shooting Nazi salutes.  It's a camera moment taken completely out of context.

Let's hope so, it's wonderful to hear he'll send troops to the border, that's what the UK needs to do, and also kick out millions of illegal immigrants.

God knows what he is doing, -  often we don't know the reasons for God's intervention until later.

All Trump has done in his first day is an improvement to the previous govt.

And more people in jail.

In 2021, about 64.8% of adults in the United States took prescription drugs.

Also more than ever on illegal drugs.

Did you go to school?  If so were you asleep during history lessons?  I suggest you read up on the outcomes of ultra nationalism.

Much the same goes for the periods in history where huge inequality has taken place with massive wealth concentrated on the few at the expense of the many - as with Trump and his buddies. Do you really believe Trump wants to increase the wealth of working class people? It would be interesting to learn how much the office cleaners in Trump Tower get paid currently.

The problem is that humans never really learn - these things are cyclical and historically, have almost always ended in disaster for the rich - ask Loui XV1 and his family.

You put 1 foot up.

You put another foot up.

You put another foot up and you're on board the drug train ....woo-hoo .. 😂

There wouldn't be Pad Tai if it weren't for Ultra nationalism, and Paw Piboonsongkram copying the trend in 1920/30s Europe. I used to teach Thai history.
