Currently have it charging in the driveway, with the included slow charger but at least I know that one works!

one thing I can’t figure out is how to find the QR code to link to the byd app for my iPhone??

oh and an annoying thing is I can’t open the windows for 7 daysâ€Ļâ€Ļapparently have to wait for the film tint to set. I had to open my door to get into my village and then I couldn’t get the car going - think it automatically goes into park when you open the door. That opening the door to get tickets form parkings etc will be annoying for the next 7 daysâ€Ļ.😡

To connect your BYD app with your car using a QR code in Thailand, open the BYD app, navigate to the vehicle management section, and scan the QR code located within your car, usually on the infotainment screen or on a sticker near the windshield; this will link your app to your car and allow you to access features like remote locking, vehicle status, and more.

Key steps:

Download the BYD app: Ensure you have the official BYD app downloaded on your smartphone and register your account using your Thai phone number and relevant vehicle details.

Access the QR code: Locate the QR code in your car, typically on the infotainment screen or a sticker near the windshield.

Open the BYD app: Launch the app and navigate to the vehicle management section.

Scan the QR code: Use the app's QR scanner function to scan the code displayed in your car.

Follow prompts: The app will guide you through any necessary confirmation steps to complete the connection process.

Important points to remember:

Check compatibility: Make sure your car model and app version support QR code connection.

Contact your dealer: If you encounter issues connecting, reach out to your BYD dealer for assistance.

Internet connection: Ensure your phone has a stable internet connection for successful pairing.

A lot longer than it would take for you to get an education...

  • I am educated enough to know electric cars from China are not the way to go. If you bought it to reduce the amount of carbon being produced, you failed, power stations run mostly on coal

Bloke in a white EV pulled out of a Mini Big C in Chiang Rai the other day.

Knocked a lass off her Scoopy. Both were going slowly. No injuries. I picked her up, he didn't see her - he was hunched over his screen (trying to find a charging point?) I was right behind her, and offered to stand witness. He is supposed to be paying for repairs to her Scoopy -

nice of the ev driver to admit he was hunched over his screen (many ice cars do have also a screen) ... or did you see him doing that while you were behind the scooter rider ... anyway, accidents can happen , and it's a good thing no one was injured ...

by the way, what does your post have to do with "finally! my new ev" ?

That's funny, I have a Toyota Yaris Cross, and I use Bluetooth, never use a cable, for calls, Android Auto or Google Maps.

I only use a cable to charge the phone though there is another USB for both charging and Android Auto.

Just tried in my kids 2024 Toyota Yaris ativ, and the moment I plug my phone into the data usb car socket, car tablet switches to Google maps and android auto display.

No Plex or netflix though.

Have you or your son tried setting it up for Bluetooth instead of using the USB? Maybe your son could check in the manual to see if there’s something specific to enable Bluetooth.

Or possibly different model Toyotas have different systems.

Thanks for helpful replies and kind words. I’ll ignore the off topic ones.

I was being impatient - spoke to dealer and changed country to Thailand and all was good. It was for the app on my phone. Car play etc connected no problem after first time pairing with phone.

Thanks for suggestions on trying to charge. I’ve got several close by I can try, doesn’t matter which one right? I’ve got a everywhere EV one closest at a 7-11.

i tried the included slow charger from byd in the socket in my driveway and that workedâ€Ļ..car was charging at 1.8kw but at least it worked!

I’ve bought an adjustable 8,10,12,14,16 amp charger hoping to get a bit faster of a charge if I cna charge at 16amp at home. Going to see how I do for next 2 months and then decide whether I need to invest in a better home charger that can give me 7kw.

drove car in town in Bangkok all day today. Obviously bit nervous new car and all but enjoyed it and happy. I did notice the steering to be a bit ‘heavy’ but maybe new carâ€Ļ.? Also still haven’t going seat position but I am thinking it’s all bit of anxiety wig it being new and just having to get used to it.

have to watch videos etc as have the mirror triangle light and other beeps and things I don’t understand but happy so far!

Be sure to download the manual to your phone/computer....and also read the manual in the car infotainment system.  Will the manual cover everything you need to know....solve every issue...tell you everything you need to know---oh heck no!!!.  But the manual will answer the great majority of your questions.

I bet the Android version is < 11, which is the minimum requirement for Bluetooth Android auto.

How long before it goes Up in a Puff of Smoke

Not only Grumpy but also ignorant of modern EV battery chemistry. BYD Cathodes use a LiFePO4 chemistry that doesn’t suffer from thermal runaway.

When the Atto 3 was made in China it had a dash cam built in but when they shipped them to Thailand they removed the camera. It was a relatively easy to buy the camera online and fit it yourself.

Here is a video I made when I fitted one to my Seal

Thanks but mine already has the dash cam installed?! It comes with an 8ggb card and the dealer said I could put up to 128 gb card in if I wanted to.

I tried a fast DC charger at a 7-11 close to my home and it worked, the hose or whatever it's called was heavy and just in a cupboard type thing that opens up once you scan the code but it was fine and it worked....so I guess if I need to fast charge quickly I can do that there and should be topped up to full in about 40 minutes. It's at a 7-11 so nothing to do If i need to wait around, but I could always just walk home or wait in the car 🙂

It's good I have it.

This one was from EAAnywhere - Should I try others just for the sake of trying or am I good?

I have a 16amp adjustable charger coming that should let me charge at 3,5kw so that would other option other than the one supplied by BYD which currently charges at 1,8kw on my driveway. Those are my options now.

Giving myself some time - 2 months and then decide if I should invest in a home charger that goes faster at 7kw. Price quotes are at around 30K

Probably the Thai built cars are different

Atto's sold in Thailand, whether built in China ot Thailand, come with Dashcam.  My 2023 Atto  built in China and I bought in late 2023 long before the BYD Thailand factory went operational came standard with Dashcam.  But I guess for some other BYD models like the Seal it's optional/extra cost.

Interesting, seen Atto 3s in Europe on YouTube fitting the BYD camera.

Yeap, you are good if you like to live dangerously....that is, thinking an EA Anywhere charger will be available anywhere you travel to.

I would recommend you signup with at least 3 charging networks....focus on those  with the most "DC" chargers....be sure PTT is one of those at least 3.   More info/charging networks recommendations in the EV Charging Stations (CS) topic which you have participated in.

Yes, interesting why only the Atto 3 here gets the dash cam, subsequent BYD’s ( think I am right in saying the Dolphin doesn’t get dash cam as standard ? ) need it retrofitted but thankfully is readily available from online buying sites and even FB jumped on the bandwagon.

In the U.K. I see they have to buy the cable along with the dash cam !

I'd suggest CABLE.......a hose is something fluids run through. 😁
