A few months ago the Euro was at THB 39+. I wanted to bring in my FCD Euros but wife said wait for 40...

Just cost average into it then.  Bring some in at 39+ and more in if it hits 40.  The problem with people thinking I will wait until it hits some nice even number like 40 is the currency market doesn't fluctuate between nice even numbers generally

Though I do expect the baht to dip, trade tensions are just a small part of the equation. The economy here is in tatters, and it is still suffering from 10 years of the Prayuth Decimation. The debt is

I wouldn't mind. :partytime2:

Well, that's bad news for Thailand but good news for me (US citizen). However, when I came here over 20 years ago, the exchange rate was in the high 40s.

They have no grounds to complain. It just means tourists and expats will spend more money. It was up to 38 a year and a half ago, and the world didn’t end

I believe when I came to Thailand in 2006, it was 41 baht to the dollar.. great days.

Seen it all said a hundred times but the Teflon Baht will hover around where it is, probably through manipulation.

Good, then I can buy a boat and go sailing in the Gulf of Mexico.

You mean the Gulf of America, at least that's what Google maps show.

Thailand being heavily reliant on tourism and exports would, for the most part, prefer a devalued Thai Baht. Tourism up, exports up, I think there is a good chance of the Thai baht staying in current range or even appreciating. I wouldn't raise one's hopes of  the Thai baht deprecaiting against your home currency. Unlike Thaialnd many Western countries have massive debt and current account balance deficits

There is someone with lots and lots and lots of Baht, sometimes lives in Thailand, who would never let it drop too far. He has friends in low places that will see to that.

BOT policy meeting today.

Will they decide to cut rates to say 0.25% and if so, will it help the us$?

Thailand’s tourism sector is notably recovering well, with foreign arrivals reaching 3.97 million by early February, matching pre-pandemic figures from 2019. This resurgence is expected to gain momentum in the second half of the year.

No mention of the damage being done to tourism by Thailand's horrendous February to April air quality, international awareness of which is steadily growing. What travel agent is going to send its customers into this smog?

The Thai baht has always been propped up the government and the central bank. It’s true value is suboptimal.

BREAKING: The Monetary Policy Committe voted 6 to 1 on Wednesday to reduce the interest rate from 2.25 percent to 2 percent in a bid to stimulate consumption and the economy. #Thailand

Good, have some term deposits expire in 1 week, and will buy more gold.

Easy to beat the 2% interest, and no withholding tax to claim back either

When the high season is truly over the Bhat should drop a bit

The Thai baht is predicted to weaken to around 35 per US dollar by mid-2025, according to forecasts from Standard Chartered Bank (Thai). This anticipated dip is largely attributed to escalating global trade tensions, particularly between the US and China.

Yes, tariffs have hurt the value of the dollar. Having said that, the baht stays incredibly strong, too strong imo.

I won't need to send more money until maybe early next year, and that's only if it reaches closer to 37 per USD.

yeah right...its going the other way
