1) Not fighting in wars is a good thing.

2) There are huge disparities between the early and tail end boomers.

https://moneywise.com/real-estate/real-estate/american-boomers-becoming-homeless-at-an-alarming-rate

Sure, the group holds about half of all U.S. wealth — with much of it tied up in real estate — but it’s mainly attributed to older boomers born between 1946 and 1954. Younger boomers, on the other hand, are increasingly sliding into homelessness — a problem, experts say, is rooted in major events that took place as they entered adulthood.

Seems to me its a case of I'm allright Jack and stop hanging on to the side of the boat !

Take it up with Connda     He's the self-righteous as##### who made the moral judgement on those who don't serve in the military,

i lost 3 HS buddies in Vietnam. those of us who did not go fought like hell in the streets at home to end it, and we succeeded.  i don't see the kids today standing up to Americas complicit support for genocide in the Middle East.  too busy with their phones.

Yeah, all the protests ended the moment the draft ended. Coincidence?

The the protesters switched to spitting on the servicemen coming home.

Then the Democrats in Congress defunded it and flushed all those lives down the toilet.

Do I really have to spell this out for you? Why do you think I called Condda a self-righteous aa######? Because I agreed with him at somebody who didn't serve in the military as a coward? I'm tired of giving remedial reading lessons.

Only the a-holes. I lost two buddies there...for nothing.

Of course, the protests ended because no one was being drafted.

Your are hammering this idiocy, with nothing to back it up.

But your not the only one, seems like a new way to communicate... So easy on the Internet, legacy of the Boomers.

If you're going to refer to something as idiocy at least have basic grammar while doing it.

Otherwise.

The younger generation are doing just fine at destroying society with their pathetic social media BS, lemming like need to behave like everyone else, and their stupid fads like multiple genders and wokeness. They are also the ones destroying the environment with overpopulation- us oldies are not still breeding.

Who was in power to allow those things to materialise. Who were the politicians and lawmakers ?

Not my generation.

So the protesters did not really care about the  war, they just did not want to go.

Never mind when the "boomer generation" exactly started. We had 80 years of peace and a certain amount of prosperity for most. 80 years of this constellation is very rare in history.

Since recorded European history, only in some 300 years Europe was totally free of any wars. Cumulatively.

Historically, we have lived in a rare "peace bubble", combined with incresing prosperity for most.

That is the essence of this thread. I personally am grateful that I was born at the right time at the right place.

Agree, and we grew up with such wonderful music too.

If the only think you can pick on are typos, it solidifies the idiocy.

I am a boomer and I first came to Thailand as a soldier during the War in Vietnam.  I was in my early twenties then.  Many of my boomer comrades in the military died in Vietnam, so you are ignorant to say that we were too young - for the Korean War, yes, but not for the War in Vietnam.

Thanks for your service brother its wonderful to see that horror show didn’t kill your spirit and you can live enjoy/appreciate SE Asian culture and life.blessings to you and yours.

The Democrats only care about the military when they campaign on it.

Do tell. The first US troops arrived in March 1965, and Kennedy died in........... yes that's right 1963.

If you want to go back to the start, it was in 1955, a while before Kennedy became POTUS.

Kennedy sent in "advisors" in an effort to stem communism.  Reality is they were already fighting.  Johnson sent in whole scale troops.  And yes the start of it was between the French and communists.
