Service station / stopover

Featured Replies

I've visited Pattaya many times from Bangkok by bus or car. Every time I notice a 'stopover' area about midway between the two places, but I've never been. There's MacDonalds, Burger King, KFC, Subway etc. Is this in Chachoenso & has anyone actually stopped there?

The OP was asking about the stop on the Chonburi Motorway. There is only one stopping place with shops and restaurants on the motorway. He was not asking where to find 7-Elevens in the country, but I

I stopped there many many years ago  probably  1999  or something  so not much use as a review or anything I'm afraid 😋

Yes it's in Chachoengsao.  Happy memories many years ago stopped there after getting married for a celebration lunch in KFC.  Nowadays it always seems so packed I'd avoid it unless absolutely desperate.

Yes. There are public restrooms and various restaurants, shops, and cafes.

It's a good place to rest halfway, use the restroom, and have a drink.

The problem is that it's usually crowded and parking is difficult.

Sure, Mrs always needs a bathroom break! Like traveling with a 6 year old! It's either going in one end or out the other with her!

Stopped there several times. A lot of good food if you are hungry.

As others have said, it's gotten super-busy and parking is really inadequate.  Spouse and I no longer stop there as it is such a mess.  They really need at least one more of these along the motorway to spread out the business.  They have built several restroom stops along the motorway but it's too bad they didn't include a few fast food joints with them.

I have no reason to go to Chonburi, but when you get older, peeing is a routine, and thankfully, the PTT's are all around to go, plus they have Amazon's and 7-11's for food stops. I was joking about you not stopping besides for beer, and referring to longer trips.

The stop over the thread is about is between Bangkok and Pattaya... a 1hr drive.

There is also another rest stop approx 20 mins closer to Pattaya (no beer there either) for those that cannot hold it in.

It looks like quite a big place. Actually what I was most interested in was where is it ... and the answer is Chachensao.

Why do you need a police buddy if you are always under the limit? Anyway, I don't believe what you say about Richard, I have always thought of him as one of the more sensible posters.

I need a police buddy on speed dial incase one day I inch over the limit.

Richard himself bragged on the forum how he calls his police buddy when he's caught driving pissed up.

Easier and more relaxing just to do the speed limit.  If lucky enough to even manage that.

If you are worried about inching over the limit why not do the sensible thing and just do not drive if you want to drink. How will you feel if one of your family are hit by an over the limit driver?

As for Richard, I just find it hard to believe that he drives as you say pissed up.
