  • Not victim blaming at all, but the last place I would go if I wanted to keep a fresh  tattoo dry is Soi 6.

  • The Thais are usually polite and ask before throwing water . It`s the aggressive Farangs  who are the problem .

  • One more reason foreigners should not participate in Songran...let the Thais enjoy their New Year celebrations without dumbski intervention

"""Riding a scooter in Soi 6....in the middle of Songkran...and expecting not to be soaked?....."""

Must be:

1) new to Pattaya ( doubtful, driving a motor bike )

OR most likely

2) slightly insane

UNLESS staying on the soi - if then, he should have known what would happen.

🤔

I agree with your assessment in areas where western tourists gather. Normally passive aggressive farang  A holes become active aggressive farang A holes.

I leave Pattaya every year for last 20 years ( been here 25). Stay in Ramkhamhaeng area of BKK. No problems at all.

It should be illegal to throw water at a moving vehicle, especially a motorcyclist!

Yeah, take your time filing a complaint so the foreigners responsible can leave the country.

20 years ago I was dragged to a Songkran street fight by some mad (they usually are) Thai GF.  A white guy was a bit of a novelty in that town 20 years ago, and all the local Thais wanted to do was spray me with water and rub white talc into my face.

Unfortunately, I had just had very important lasik surgery on both eyes.. I spent the time with my hands over my eyes, trying to keep the talc and water out!

And, the result was?

You haven't finished your anecdote....

Don't want get wet ? Just stay in your home only that

Good idea, that'll give the perpetrators plenty of time to head for the hills. The cops might even offer them a lift, lol.

Have you seen the amount of violent gang fights which took place over Songkran involving just Thai youths? All over Thailand. One involving a shooting.

Not that I've seen in 7 years here. I was coming home with my 8 year old daughter on a scooter and just before we go to our village a kid throws a bucket of water in our faces, which isn't safe. When someone gets decked for this they deserve it. You don't play games around children on scooters. I don't care about getting wet, as I have many times, but anyone who throws water at moving scooters, especially with children aboard, deserves what they get. Just after that, we got sprayed by a watergun, which isn't a problem.

Witht the daily reporting of a foreigner doing something wrong her, some don't realize that 99% of criminal and stupid activity here is still locals against locals.

More than 99%...  but most of it is of no interest to the social media rhetoric that either likes to point the finger at foreigners, or serves foreign social media.

There is also the element that when Thai's commit violence it considered normal by many because it is expected and they know no better, where as foreigners 'should' know better than to behave as they have, for some reason attracting more commentary.

Unwarranted soaking could result in legal consequences for those involved,

Right 500 baht and that would clear it all. Stupid of the victim to venture Songkran and thinking he would go home dry.

This is factually incorrect.

The so called  'politeness' is fake at best, passive aggressive at worst.

Sad at best bob/don. The Thai's have you and your ilk figured out. Perhaps why you slunk off to Japan.

The only place he (Bob) has slunk off to is the local ladyboy bar here in Thailand.

Only low class uneducated people get "Tramp Stamps" especially in Thailand during Songkran.

Or more likely just the usual mindset of those having come 2nd in an altercation..

He signals 'dont wet me'

Gets ignored

Pulls up his big boy pants and goes remonstrating

Says things above his station or ability to see through

Gets hit

Goes into 'I was blameless just minding my business/ hey its medical reasons' mode
