In the early hours of April 17th, a Pakistani tourist's peaceful morning walk on Pattaya Klang Beach took a shocking turn when he was assaulted without reason by an intoxicated Thai man. The incident unfolded at 4:40 am, leaving the 35-year-old visitor, Mohammad Iqbal, stunned and bleeding.

Iqbal was merely enjoying Pattaya's vibrant atmosphere when the attacker, a 31-year-old local identified as Thana, approached him and punched him in the face, injuring his lip. Thankfully, a fellow Pakistani tourist quickly restrained Thana until the police arrived.

When officers questioned Thana, he openly confessed to the unprovoked attack, attributing his behaviour to intoxication from "downing a small bottle of white liquor." Witnesses claimed the man, known in the area for his disruptive antics, was gathering bottles along the beach before the surprising assault.

Despite Thana's pleas for lenience, the authorities seemed unmoved, given his extensive criminal record. Investigations revealed his long-standing history of petty offences and violent conduct, often leading to numerous arrests and imprisonments.

Locals described Thana as a regular nuisance, known for troubling tourists and residents alike. Police have now detained him for further questioning and plan to press new charges, reaffirming Pattaya's commitment to ensuring safety for all its visitors, reported The Thaiger.

Must be fake news, last year the Prime Minister assured the universe that foreign tourists were safe in Thailand.

Muslims.  The Fajr or dawn prayer  would have been at 4:50 AM or shortly thereafter.

Or, he may have been a morning person.  Sunrise is at 6 Am in Pattaya with.  dawn - Twilight is 60-70 minutes before sunrise so 4:40 AM puts it at the time right before the sun starts to appear. I love the early morning. It is the happiest time of the day for me. The sun isn't too hot, the beach is tranquil and so very quiet, and birds start their morning songs. I get up with the sun, and give thanks for being alive for another day.

or, he may have  had a  busy night with one of Pattaya's sex workers and was returning to his abode.

Doesn't matter, really as  he had the  right to walk  without being attacked by a drunken hooligan.

Some muslims find the beach makes for a  peaceful place to perform their fajr. much like Christians who pray in a forest setting, or under a tree, or people who mediate or do yoga on the beach.

Well, but I doubt it's the best time, location, or venue.

I, amongst other, do. Why the question?

Maybe after this latest crime, apparently one of many, the Thai guy will finally be locked up--where he belongs.

Why is everyone blaming the victim. The Thai guy has a long history of causing chaos and trouble and he should have been in jail, not just let go with a 100 baht fine and a Wai. They definitely need to work on their judicial system here.

When people speak of Thailand being safe if you just use your common sense. This is a good example of not doing that.

It's a big world out there, sonny. Lots of different people from different cultures. My dad, born in 1921, serving in WWII, always woke up by 5:00 AM and would sometimes go for a walk around his neighborhood. Are you trying to blame the victim? Because - you're racist and don't like dark skinned people from south Asia, therefore they don't have the right to go around minding their own business unmolested? And even if he WAS partying all night, so what? He wasn't bothering anyone, and has the right to walk where and when he pleases.
