Thailand Digital Arrival Card. TDAC

Featured Replies

Just did another 60 day visa exemption. The border guys even filled out the digital arrival card for me and sent me the pdf. Money will buy you anything in this country.

  • Seeing that you have a re-entry permit, you have a temporary permission to stay in Thailand and therefore Thailand is, for immigration purposes, not your country of residence.   In your case

What are you on about. Country of Residence is where you live, in my case Thailand. Earlier in the application you already put your Nationality and Passport number.

Completed my TDAC today as arriving on Monday. It is fairly straight forward , but frustrating that the drop down menu for your nationality would only work in landscape mode on my tablet then the other one would not

Took time trying to find the U.K. in the drop down menu and found the drop down menu all over the place.

Should have taken 5 minutes but took 10.

I agree.  I completed TDACs for myself and my son on 29 April (one application) and we arrived on 1 May.  The application took longer than it should as I couldn't find the country code for the UK (it's GBR).  We live in Thailand, so gave Thailand as our country of residence and our Thai address. I didn't complete the departure information.

We landed at 12.15 on 1 May and Passport Control was chaotic.  There were staff trying to check that passengers had a completed TDAC before joining the queues but many just rushed by.  The queues (lines) were long and we didn't get to an Officer for about 20 minutes.

A passenger before us was turned away for not having a TDAC and had to find his way back through the chaos to complete one at the kiosks before passport control.  It seemed easier and quicker to have a paper printout of the TDAC as Officers seemed to be taking ages to look at phones they were passed.

Other than that it was straightforward.

I noticed the same on my phone.

The trick is not to try to scroll, but to type the first three letters of the nationality, eg swi for Swiss, bri for British.

For "Country of residence", the trick is to type the first three letters of the country name, eg gre for Great Britain produces a pop-up with a few county names that  includes Great Britain; uni for United Kingdom gives a list that is too short to include that name, but continue trying and unit brings up the list that includes United Kingdom.

Of course, if I happen to know the ISO three-letter country code, eg SWI for Switzerland or GBR for Great Britain, this is the most direct way to fill in the field for the country of residence. (Lower-case letters are also accepted for the codes)

Just to confirm, if on an O visa 12 month retirement extension, we can choose THA as the country of residence is that still correct?

Your "12 month retirement extension" is an extension of your temporary permission to stay in Thailand and for immigration purposes your country of residence is not Thailand. However, it is unlikely that indicating Thailand in that field will get you into any trouble.

Just got in from Hong Kong. Very smooth. No checks at departure check-in. BKK immigration briefly glanced over the confirmation email on my phone but didn’t scan QR code nor check any details. This was LTR fast track lane so maybe less stringent. Plenty of staff around to support travellers who need assistance.

I wish the system would have the option to create a traveller profile so one doesn’t have to type in all the details every time, like eg the equivalent Singapore app. Feature wish for the next release …

They've stated there will be an app in the future.  That might come along with some type of account or profile, even if just saved on your device.

My wife is returning to Thailand May 5 from Greece...Once she realized she had to submit it within 3 days of her arrival ,not before,it all went smoothly and she has the QR. Code in her phone.

Kudos

I have printed a copy as it will be easier than using my tablet as I don't have a mobile phone.

CHE surely, although typing SWI will find it too.

Confusing as it is, UNI will find UK in the residency field but will not find British in the nationality field, which also has an standalone entry for Scotland.

I made a mistake there, meant to type CHE for Confœderatio Helvetica (although Swiss Confederation will correctly pop up)

Only if they are entering on a foreign passport.

Did my TDAC online on Friday. Came in at Chiang Mai from KL yesterday. No asking if I had done it in KL and normal entry at Chiang Mai. No one asked me for anything. Obviously it's on their system as the were turning back (to the kiosks) those without them.

That's the interesting bit. Alleviates the worries of all those without phones/printers, etc., that were filling these threads earlier.

So, I have to give the IO, and perhaps another person my phone? How about the email; would they also accept screenshots of it? Also, is the wifi at Arrival good enough to quickly search your email, and still be online when face-to-face with the IO?

Makes sense, otherwise it would be absolutely pointless, except for saving paper. - Yeah, right Thai officials reducing paper trails... 😆😂

The reports so far suggest that if you have done it they can already see it on their system, based on your passport.  So the need to present anything is not indicated, although it would be a good idea to have it just in case.

What, if anything, did you give or show to the immigration official without his asking for it?

Just wondering. I am going in a three week visit to the UK. What if I downloaded the form before I go and filled it in but sent it within the 3 days of returning

You don't download the form or send it anywhere.  You can't fill it in until 3 days of arrival.  Then it sends you an email.

There is nothing to download, you enter your information online and you can only do that within three days of travel - just like Singapore (and others). That's it. Did you not look at the site before asking? It would be obvious if you had.

So many silly "what ifs" in this thread.

So if you do not have access to the internet?

You can do it on arrival.  Did you not read anything about this before today?

Who doesn't have access to the internet? How do you book your flights? And more to the point how did you write this post?

Anyway if you are Amish and you have got someone to book the flying machine for you and you paid them with potatoes you can always use one of the TDAC terminals on arrival which are set up for people who didn't do it prior to travel.

Does the UK not have internet anymore? You have 3 days to do it.  I'm sure you can find internet sometime during then.  And if not use the wifi at the airport to do it on your phone.  Or wait in line when you arrive for one of the kiosks to fill it out.
