I believe any bar owner has the right to deny filming in their business. I think any business, like a restaurant or even a retail store, has that right. I do not believe, however, that the owner has the right to assault someone breaking the rules of his business. They certainly do have the right to remove them, but not assault them.

I worked in NYC for years, lived near it for 30, and rarely saw anything happen besides fist fights. Crime happens all day, every day, everywhere, but most never see it. America has millions more people, and with that comes more crimes, but Thailand's not near immune, as we see it daily on the news, and that's just a fraction of what happens.

Excellent post, but I still say that Thailand is a much safer country than America, but unfortunately that does not apply to Thailand's dreadful road behavior. The Americans are way ahead there.

Sticking to the country you're pretty safe anywhere. Staying in tourist areas you'll see what some disrespectful tourists do anywhere. The big cities worldwide always have the most criminal activity, whether it's NYC, Houston, Detroit, Bangkok, Los Angeles, Rio De Janeiro, Sydney , Paris, London or Hong Kong. More people in the US has more gangs , which means more gun crime, but gangs are everywhere also.

Am I the only one that notices that most of these issues are in the early morning hours, like 3 am.  Still have to wonder when we are going to hear the close at 2 rule come into affect.

 

Seems that most of these guys are highly intoxicated, making them either belligerent a-holes or easy pickings.

 

As to filming in a bar, sorry but that is a no-no here and well known as a no-no.

These days  people do not have to do anything and not just this issue, and in the wrong place at the wrong time, then people assume that one must have done something to provoke an argument or fight and often we do not know all the facts in this case.

And one might even assume that the guy did it on purpose to provoke the bar owner into assaulting him to get the bar in trouble. He could literally be friends with a bar owner across the street. 

 

You need to keep your wits about you. You never know who is out to get you.

I was walking down the street and spotted a Thai woman giving me the evil stinkeye and talking to her friends behind my back. I didn't do nothin' to her.

We normally only see the beatings that take place. This is a good video that shows how people can act like total aholes and absolutely deserve the beatings they get.

 

 

An old friend ran a 'bar beer' in Bangkok I think for 10+ years. The girls that worked there ostensibly were just serving girls serving beer (If you did manage to take a girl out of there, there wasn't a bar fine etc). The owner used to say that he thought that all the hassle/problems of running a bar where the girls were 'available' just wasn't worth it, all the potential problems with the girls AND the customers.

Why is it the majority of commentators advocate violence?

They are assuming ALL the people who suffer at the hads of bully gangs are ass holes or loud mouth drunks!

Unless you where actually there and witnessed any of the occurrences don't assume as assumptions are generally wrong,

This situation could have and should have been handled differently 

I generally find a soft spoken polite lady will defuse any volatile situation
