A Chinese tourist has fallen victim to a theft in Pattaya after going to a hotel room with a transgender individual he had just met along the beachfront.

At approximately 01:30 on 19 July, the tourist reported the incident to Pol. Sub Lt. Manasak Polyiem, deputy investigator at Pattaya City Police Station. According to his statement, he was approached and befriended by a transgender along Pattaya Beach. After a brief interaction, the suspect allegedly persuaded him to return to his hotel room, to get to know each other.

Once inside, the tourist excused himself to use the bathroom. It was during this moment, he said, that the suspect seized the opportunity to steal 20,000 baht in cash before fleeing the scene.

The victim stated he had been taken in by the suspect’s friendly demeanour and persuasive manner, not suspecting any criminal intent. He immediately alerted local authorities upon discovering the theft.

This incident echoes a previous case involving an Indian tourist who was reportedly targeted in a similar fashion.

I was actually thinking of a report where the Indian customer did the stealing.

Tourist should consider himself lucky, at least he wasn’t bent over and then robbed. 😋

Adding to the myth that Pattaya is a safe and friendly place to bring the family.

Is it my imagination.......it seems every time this crime is reported the amount stolen is 20,000B?

I suppose it could make sense......... a nice round figure to withdraw from the ATM.......and the ladyboys are waiting and watching.

Yes, wondering if the cases are connected somehow...

If you walk beach Rd at 1:30 in the night and pick up some ugly but tall one...

And you would leave the family behind!

These victims are just too naive and should have a guardian with them.

School of life has a high tuition for numbskulls

Is it common at any time to leave tens of thousands of baht just laying out in the open, say on a table? This would never occur to me to do even at home and certainly not in a hotel room.

What did the Chinese man expect, a bouquet of roses from the ladyboy?
A promise of eternal love?

A lot of Airbnb don’t have a reception.

Green horn

The very first thing a smart guy does is lock all his valuables in either the safe or a piece of luggage. Sight unseen. Period.

Exercise survival skills and the chance of abuse decreases dramatically!

Can't comment as I don't know the Chinese person and the environment he grew up in and what he was familiar with. My guess is that his environment is very strict and has little, if any ,  "gay" prostitution. 20,000 baht? Cheap compared to some straight western guys spending milllions of baht on the "rough diamond"  they  found on beach road. How often I've heard mine's is different.

It happens every hour on the hour.

I don't care if it's a chick with a d*ck or a woman, if you bring a stranger to your room, put all of your valuables into your room safe. That's what it's there for. And never let them out of your sight.

Can't understand why so much people like katoï or may be they are too naive.

Sex?

Take your wallet into the toilet with you or lock it in the safe. It isn't that difficult to avoid the problem occurring.

To be fair, this wouldn't disqualify it. A family wouldn't need to worry about getting into this situation.

Another rookie learns the hard way that 'Ladies of the Night'  on Beach Road are not ladies and don't spent the night.

Did you leave 20,000 baht on the table to Impress them?

Did you leave your wallet on the table by a stranger you've known for only a few hours and go to the toilet?

Do you always carry around large to Thailand sums of money? Not hide or secure some in a different location?  I understand the withdrawal amount as Foreign to you ATM's charge a Use Fee that is around 220 baht.

He did appear young and maybe inexperienced.  This may be an expensive lesson that could have been easily avoided.  Hopefully he gets the money back and both learn a lesson.
