Wow... just wow...   What is it with the mental cases that have to shoe-horn in a 'Trump-comment' into any thread no matter how thin, tenuous or completely unrelated the thread could possibly be.....

I don't care about Trump.   Wind your neck in calling others 'mental cases' with the amount of time you spend yourself on the forum.

I don't know (my license is lifetime) but could this be related to the unsavory businesses that 'front up' for foreigners who can't be arsed or are too gormless to get driving licenses themselves. It's completely illegal and yet my FB is full of these shysters grinning away with their knobbly clients, needless to say a fairly typical type.

Depends on the type of extension of stay, certain work permits (BOI etc.) allow 2 years EOS for example.

Okay, but these would be a small minority of renewal applicants. Also, Even if you had 15 months left on your extension, and they give you a 2 year license, doesn't that defeat their presumed reason for doing this in the first place (i.e. assuming you will leave Thailand when extension expires and come back on a tourist visa and drive a car using it without being a resident?). In that case, they should give only year to year renewals.

A rather silly comment, in your home country, how long does a driving licence last for...? 🤔

It's a perfectly reasonable comment. If the new policy is implemented across the board, then that's it. No point whining about it.

We aren't permanent residents here. After 4 years from first obtaining your licence, you'll have the inconvenience of having to renew it again. Big deal. Take some time off posting here.

TDL renewal involves obtaining a COR from immigration.

That for some involves lot of travel etc.

That in case of some offices (eg CW) takes a week + to process.

There is also the required medical.

Find your post rather narrow minded.

For those living ongoing in Thailand it's not unreasonable to be able to obtain a 5 yr TDL renewal.

They why mention him then, at all !!! - pull your own neck in and head out of your ar$e - this has nothing to do with Trump - its about driving licenses in Thailand !!!!!...

As for time on the forum...

Your daily post count it 4... while mine is 5 - hardly a lot more than you.

Consider being able to back up your remarks before you make them... Consider how much time YOU spend on the forum before trying to use that as some weird point scoring attempt.

Does this go hand in hand with the 50k daily limit on bank transactions and hospitals starting to refuse third party payments, etc.

It has everything to do with targeting foreigners along with the recent changes to banking rules.

It logically follows that the Thai authorities will target expats if Western governments put them under pressure. They have no other way of reciprocating.

There have been precedents set such as Thaksin's clampdown on visas all down to pressure from the IMF in the early 2000's.

You have some affront on here acting like some sort of authority when you really don't know what goes on in the minds of Thai people.

Yeah sure. That's why you mentioned Trump in a totally unrelated topic.

It's because you don't give a f** about him 😂
