When the missiles fly, all places might be the same.

Except for Pitcairn.

What is the point of planning for something which will extinguish humanity if it happens?

If everyone were to plan for this thing, then this thing would be less likely to happen.

This is just one of many reasons.

By the way.

These days, there is no sun in the north.

Just very dark clouds from dawn to dusk.

Very dark and gloomy.

I think it must have been this that started me thinking of....

Nuclear Winter.

Every day is dark.

for weeks and weeks....

No sun.

Just like Nuclear Winter, in fact.

Not if China is hit... 😆

Radiation and fallout will probably reach Thailand relatively quickly.

Not how it would work, major cities in almost any country will be struck also

The sides taking out each other's perceived allies.

Humanity will only survive in remote areas, such as tiny Pacific islands.

And elites sheltered in Military bunkers

1. Sell my investments, exchange the money to dollars and gold.

2. Leave on an airplane to safer destinations.

(If necessary, abandon step 1, as I would need days to do this.)

Sell how on an online platform that is closed when internet even electricity will be gone?

Better have your own plane, the whole world shut down for Covid

For weeks and weeks you disappeared.

Now you're taking over the joint once again as the "Popular" section is nothing but Gamma.

Dark days indeed.

All know that no one survives a nuclear war. So no one is likely to start one.

No plans. I've gotten to a point in my life where I don't devote time and energy to thinking about things that I have absolutely no control over. If nuclear war happens we're all in trouble, the fallout is going to be unbelievably bad, and I'm not sure there's much any of us can do at that point.

Sure one can build an underground shelter, with millions of baht worth of construction costs and provisions, but who wants to live in a cave?

It does feel like a bit of a pointless thread.

True, and if you live in a ground zero target like BKK, how would you know and what could you do about it?

Watch a British movie from 1984 called "Threads" if you want a picture of what a nuclear aftermath might be like. Like you say, better to go out with a flash.

Yes........buy the most expensive red wines I can find, then find a good restaurant and enjoy the food and wine until I depart this mortal coil.

Last thing I'll do on the double is rape that smoking-hot girl next door before radiation sickness sets in and we're all dead.

I made plans for the big Tsunami in July, but that never happened.

If there isn't a nuclear war before November I'll drop any plans I have made because we will be invaded by aliens.

Meanwhile I'll enjoy my dinner tonight, my day tomorrow and the next day and so on.

Hopefully she will be on board, and then both of you will die happy.

If and when but as you say, we are lucky to be in Thailand. Lucky because every village has at list one temple where yo can humbly wait for your demise in dignity. No island would help you as a long winter would follow. Too long for most. So better not even think about it 😉

After the first nuke your investments will have already dropped 90% before you could even check

Go on living life as normal and watching folks like you panic.

Take a good shower (radioactive), ?

.. And go to bed waiting for a very long nap..🫣

Nothing really, I hope they send me email where they drop it and Ill go there.

They can drop it right on my head.

However the bombs are a bit more powerful then before, so probably dont have to move to location.

Why you want to live after the event and where?

I'm aware of that.

If only what you say could actually be true.

No one in their right mind would start a war.

Also, unintended mishaps can get out of hand, fast.

And, we were fortunate to escape the consequences of two major mishaps in recent decades.

If you know Graham Allison, it is people like him who have done as much as any individual to campaign for abolishing of nukes, and other weapons of mass destruction.

And it is he who, just prior to the Ukraine war, estimated the chances of nuclear war during the next decade.

It is not only he, but also others such as William Perry, who have stated a 50% probability within a decade.

How valid are their predictions about something so unpredictable?

I would say it is hard to say.

Still, the probability is not zero.

This will be a high impact event,  maybe even close to an extinction event.

And, by the way, that book by Jacobsen which details the impact of war is not science fiction, at all.

The book is NOT fiction.

The format is somewhat of a story form, but the entire book is based on important interviews and research.

I am not saying that you should read this book, unless you have a strong interest in doing so.

For sure, the book argues strongly for disarmament, complete disarmament.

However, such a thing seems next to impossible.....

This is why the present state of things seems so dire.

So, how much can anyone plan for this?

Maybe very little.

Or, maybe people should plan to do other things before the event?
