  • What kind of question is that? Are you so afraid of being deported that you can’t even defend your human dignity? What if he spits in your face? What if he decides to urinate on you—or even defecate?

No.

Defensive blocking, yes. Which the assistant usually ends up hurting themselves in their futile attempt.

Then run before he regains balance…if he’s much bigger.

No Thai man would hit me.

Talk about NONSENSE.

Still unsure? I used to have a different opinion about Western men before I came to Thailand. Seems like they took Darwin’s theory of adaptation a little too literally.

Funny, I have tried being robbed twice in my life, both times they changed their minds. Once in Cambodia by 4 guys, and once in Brazil by 3 guys.

I worked as a security in the East Oslo and never had to throw a punch, but had several conflicts every day from knives, bottles and axes as well guns, but never been at gun point except by USA highway patrol once.

Yes I can defend myself, but I would never trow a punch at anyone if I was not feeling I had to, to save my life or my wife life.

Well we got the mix of different immigrants where I worked evening and night shifts alone patrolling the streets and condominiums. The Balkans had just arrived as well in those times, but somalis was the worst and most unpredictable

If you are a decent person in Thailand,  not dragging any ego issues or lack of self confidence that most people who fight around carry, you are polite with people, are not wasted by 11am in the morning, you will rarely if never, have any issues And if confronted with somebody trying to rip you off in the bill or price quote,  as that's where usually arguments occur....plainly ask if you can get at least 50% discount (as that will be the real price)....if not, smile, do the Waï and give your money to some other business

On reading the topic intro and some comments, some people are really trouble,  starting for themselves. Not surprising the locals do not like falangs.

If a Thai man hit me and then spat in my face, then urinated and defecated on me I wouldn't stand for it. I'd say politely "Enough sir, would you please stop? This is really quite bothersome!"

I see your point.

Two scenarios.

1.  You’re too old.  Cruel and unusual punishment.

2.  Spreading your legs defused the aggression.

If you're being hit by a Thai man then there's a fair chance you deserved it.

If theres other people around or not is an important detail

Agreed and a fair chance some of his friends nearby will make it more difficult for you as well...

Your wet dream, but just hiding behind MAGAs colors and think you are something, while others had a long life with many events and happenings.

Football hooliganism at its best is what MAGA is, spineless individuals live big in groups

It would depend on how many other Thai men are present.

Depends if I think the dispute was my fault. If so then I MAY hold back but violence is only really justified in self defence against violence, not speech. If not then Yes and I am in my late 70s.

He would try to hit me, but would suffer the consequences, after neutralizing his attack, he would be warned, to continue he would get hurt..if necessary, badly hurt, an advantage is the attacker not knowing your abilities.

Would I retaliate? That would depend on a couple of things.
1. If there were other Thai men, friends of his, present, then no;

2. If I felt threatened and needed to defend myself, then yes.

I worked bar and concert security for many years in Hong Kong. I've dealt with a lot of angry, drunk idiots in my time.  I've also been involved in triad fights with machetes and baseball bats.

I've never needed to hit anyone.  And I avoid all violence.

I would only defend myself if my wife was involved or there were no other choices.  I’m in my 70s but am a mix martial arts master of 20 years practicing and working out everyday to stay healthy. I have never had problems in Thailand, I don’t look for trouble and I don’t go to bars or night clubs. Just enjoy my life in Thailand.

No Thai man can hit me. Why? Like Chuck Norris one look into his eye and the fist will turn and hit himself so hard that he’ll drop himself. 😎

If a Thai hit you, you have either said or done something stupid, or it is a misunderstanding or the person is "out of balance"! If you hit back you risk 10 others jump on you. If possible retreat and it may be over. If not, try call police. Fighting back against Thais in Thailand is a damn BAD idea!! Better RUN!
