Thai-German actress Marie Broenner, 33 and her partner, prominent businessman Asmakorn Singhsikornkul, were released on bail after an early-morning confrontation with police at a Bangkok drink-driving checkpoint turned into a heated altercation.

The incident occurred at around 03:10 on 24 August, when officers from Wang Thonglang police station were operating an alcohol checkpoint on Pradit Manutham Road outside a car showroom. A green Porsche, driven by Ms Broenner with Mr Asmakorn in the passenger seat and two other women in the back, was stopped by police.

Officers signalled for the vehicle to pull over for a breathalyser test, but Ms Broenner initially refused to get out of the car. Mr Asmakorn then stepped out, claimed to know senior officers and began shouting angrily at police.

After several minutes, Ms Broenner eventually left the car but repeatedly declined to take the alcohol test despite police requests. Officers informed her that her actions constituted an offence of driving under the influence and placed her under arrest.

During the arrest, Mr Asmakorn allegedly became aggressive, verbally abused officers and attempted to obstruct the arrest. Witnesses reported that he challenged an officer to a fight, shouting expletives and demanding a “man-to-man” confrontation. Police restrained him at the scene.

The officer involved, Police Sergeant Udomsak Promchat, later filed a complaint against Mr Asmakorn, accusing him of insulting, obstructing and threatening police in the line of duty.

Both Ms Broenner and Mr Asmakorn were granted temporary release on bail and are scheduled to return to Wang Thonglang police station on 25 August to formally hear the charges before being taken to court.

Thailands finest "do you know who I am"/"I know your boss" brigade.

How dare you to stop a Porsche!

My single digit license plate cost more than your house!

I hope justice will be served.

Otherwise it's just another example why police is a helpless crowd.

Plus the car, if new, would probably add another 15+ million baht.

The friend is the only sensible one.

Looks like one of the female friends with him told the Thai guy in English to shut up.  Total loss of face.

Lock them all up.

I'd like to know how much will be placed in the brown paper bag to resolve this issue. 💲💲💲💲💲💲💲💲

Mr Asmakorn reminds me of the son of a Thai property developer I knew 20 years ago, child like, yelling, screaming.

Bloody strange people.

Ah yes, the innately corrupt and culturally corrosive "police bail" without recourse to roadside breath testing has won the day again. I'm sure after the token basket of "Brands" has been handed over, there will be no charges laid later today as it was all some sort of "misunderstanding".

Looks like someone blew into the camera and steamed it all up 🤔

That 150cm tall, 55 kilo beast would be terrifying in his wrath. Well, his legal team and bodyguards would be.

The Frau looks a lot bigger and browner in this article than she does on the big screen.

Got me reminiscing about the good old days of communism behind the iron curtain, when the only car one could buy back then was the Trabant sedan.

That would mean the police are corrupt? Wouldn't it?

Entitled Hi-So.

Don't you mean Entitled.....Lo-So.

Thai police are quite gentle in their approach. In situations like these, they could benefit from adopting a tougher stance similar to that of U.S. law enforcement.

That was when you had to order it and wait a few years.

Well, that was intended to work. Normally.

Obviously Mr.A. was short of cash and missed his envelope.

That reminds me of the old Ronald Reagan joke.

Salesman: "Your new Lada will be delivered in 4 years time, on the 14 May 19xx."

Customer:" Morning or Afternoon?"

Salesman:" Does it matter, it's in 4 years!"

Customer:" The plumber is coming in the morning."
