It's still the best phone out there by a long shot, especially the galaxy Ultra 24 or 25. Those smartphones completely blow away their Apple counterparts.

Ditch the Samsung, time to move on

Samsung is on the decline, maybe because quality has gone down, perhaps caused my moving production to other countries. My AC binned, phone binned, I loathe my Samsung TV, looking forward to it dying

Generally Chinese phones.

There's always 6G, Starlink compatibility, FLIR, night vision and high zoom cameras.  Or some new variation of NFC.

That's just off the top of my head.

And with many (most?) airlines banning in flight use of power banks, I'm forecasting some heavy phones with humungous battery capacity.

that kind of proves my point. Does the general public really crave those extras? 5G is proving a real lemon in most markets - 6G? The others I have never even heard of.

Re batteries, I notice from a whizz round a shopping centre today that tablets seem to be making a comeback, notably the 7 or 8 inch variety that had disappeared. I wonder if that is not a coincidence.

My Samsung tablet was made in China. So?

It seems like nearly any product can be made in China to a very high standard of quality, if it's a foreign company that's doing the manufacturing, and if there's a foreign guy running the manufacturing plant to the company's exact specifications. Apple is a good example.

However after using the iPhone for several years I just decided I much prefer the Samsung Galaxy series, as I think it has better features and is far more intuitive. Having said that I used Apple products for tablets, for laptops, and for desktops. Though I'm taking a hard look at the new Samsung Galaxy s10 13.1" series for a tablet to replace my older Apple iPad.

I just don't like their Apple's phones.

I find most Korean products to be superior to most Chinese products, and I will pay a premium to support a South Korean company over a Chinese company.

I have a S10FE tablet and it's lovely, except I never see it because the wife likes it too. Untilt the mess with the S21 screen, I had the habit of buying the FE models which seem to offer better value. Incidentally, I pair it with a Targus AK855 b/t keyboard which is sensational for someone like me who types a lot for a living.

Up to you back I had very very bad experiences with my first two smartphones, both Chinese brands.

Switched to Samsung and it was night and day.

I love Chinese food and some Chinese people, but there are objectively verified issues with Chinese government related security issues with at least some Chinese brands.

I hate much of what the Chinese government is doing but I also hate much of what the U.S. government is doing as well.

Especially recently that China is the backbone of the coalition of the killing in Ukraine etc.

No it's not about made in China. It's about Chinese companies.

I rate the chances of a war between China and the west as at least possible.

If that happens I wouldn't want to be dependent on tech from a Chinese company.

South Korea is a part of the west and Samsung does indeed offer some amazingly attractive phones, though nobody is saying the cheapest.

I know some might say well not everything is politics.

True, but not everything is not politics either.

That's just subjective though I bought my daugther a Realme phone and it's ultra-reliable. Some of my mia nois have a Xiaomi, works reliable. The only one who has a problem is the girl in Samut Prakan with the Samsung. Of course I threw it at her and it hit the floor, so it may have been impact.

The Xiamoi Ultra 14 and 15 have got rave reviews.

The Vivo Xfold 5 Pro too.

Also if you have a car that allows you to input a phone with an AUX jack, you're okay if your phone has the phone jack, but if it only has bluetooth and the car's bluetooh is absent or not working, then you can't connect that phone to your car infotainment. Unless you use an adapter maybe.

If you have an older car without Bluetooth, then I can highly recommend adaptors like the one above.

You simply plug it into your car cigarette lighter, then tune your phone to the car FM radio. You can play music from a USB stick, listen to internet radio, and answer or make phone calls, all through your car speakers. You can also charge your phone and power a dashcam or portable sat nav.

The sound is surprisingly good, and they're not expensive; on Amazon Australia there are plenty available for 20-40 dollars. Most likely even cheaper in Thailand.

I've never had an issue with Bluetooth not connecting. This, when using a five-year-old phone In a nearly twenty-year-old car

I had a realme.

Enough said.

I agree my personal experiences are subjective.

But that is only part of the reasons that I won't buy a Chnese brand phone.

About 60% of the 220 million phones Samsung sells each year globally are made in Vietnam

Samsung manufactures some smartphones in its home country of South Korea, though this accounts for a small portion of its global production and mainly serves the local market

Thanks for sharing that. Not at all surprised. South Korea is a rich country so I would expect South Korean companies to outsource factory jobs. As said before my issue with phones from Chinese owned companies is mostly about the Chinese government not the build quality of their products.
