I have just drank the water

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

This morning I woke up in my Airbnb small apartment and going out I never had enough water for my coffee ..I need my coffee

So I took the water from the kitchen tap and booked it in the jug

I had my coffee .

Now I'm thinking I shouldn't leave the Condo in case I get sick.

Has anyone got any stomach disease from drinking the water here ?

I only had one cup of hot coffee

I'm feeling a little sick come to think of it , I think the water may have parasites in it , I think they are now swimming around in my belly

Has anyone else drank the tap water ,I did boil it ,is there any scientists on here who can answer please !!

Looks like I may have to head to the medical centre for  a blood test

What symptoms could I have ?

Something I would not do but You should be OK if you boiled for coffee.

I've read some here drink from the water from the tap, not boil.

What are you trying to say exactly please ?

Should I be worried ?

I will only be buying water from 711 now and using it in my coffee after this dramatic traumatic episode.

I have had coffee every morning here for over 36 years. Each and everyday I fill up my drip machine with tap water and brew up a pot. I drink it, my wife drinks it, my kids drank it before they left for America. Nobody has gotten sick. I also brush my teeth with tap water.  Please stop trying to be a drama queen it is not becoming at all.

I got H Pylori, likely from the water here, but not my tap water, as it comes from a well and has a high sand content, which isn't good for drinking without filtering, so it can come from water in rain jugs, kissing others, or a few other possibilities. I use it for brushing teeth and that's okay, as it isn't from the city but a well.

H Pylori is something most humans get,but it doesn't affect most in a harmful way. Those it does are going to have to take a 2 round dose of antibiotics and a proton pump inhibitor to get rid of it, and that screws with your gut microbiome for quite awhile.

Others have posted links telling what to expect and as they pointed out, regions will vary. The same as visiting Mexico, you don't drink the water or you might be in for a surprise, and bottled is safer. Boiling water, as in coffee, will kill bacteria and viruses, along with other parasites,  but not eliminate metals and PFA's.

I've never seen anyone here drink from a tap but I don't know but a certain amount, and they all use bottled jugs. Seeing how many are sold here should tell a story. This is one link that explains some............https://krabinature.com/thailand-drinking-water-is-it-safe-to-drink/

Posting that banal rubbish on a weekend......you should be afraid, very afraid.

It is filthy I bet the pipes are so full of feces, rats, and maybe human remains.  Always boil it for 10 minutes it may kill some of it.

Stay in your room, do not go out.  6 days at least before you can be sure you won’t crap in your pants.

You booked it. Boiling kills all parasites but not heavy metals.

OP is probably in a bedsit in Croydon or trailer trash park in the USA 😆

Apparently the water from the treatment plants is good quality.......the degradation/contamination occurs during its journey through the pipework to your tap.

Nothing funny about it at all, You have stupidly put yourself at risk of contracting all sorts of horrible diseases, Not all of which will kill you of course but many could be life changing to the degree that you will wish they had.   How does life after kidney failure appeal to you?  strapped to a dialysis machine 4 hours a time, 3 times a week, forever ? its probably about 2000bt a time too these days

You need to monitor yourself closely for the next 6 months  looking for any abnormal symptoms and stay close to a hospital.  on the other hand you may be OK. only time will tell,  oh the suspense must be awful

All because you were too lazy to nip to the shop and buy a bottle

No actually, he´s not joking. It generally true. My initial post was just a joke. I would never touch that filthy water. I would consider myself very lucky, only feeling a little bit sick. Here they find dead people everywhere. Would not be so strange if some of the remains have entered the water system. Not many controls are done every year, as they know that people who want to remain healthy know to drink bottled water. And with so many dogs running around, and water repair places, it would be amazing if there 5h1t done reach the pipes.

I mean, if I even felt a little bit after drinking that water, I would seek help immediately.

Always use tap water for the kettle, have done for the last 15 years in this condo, never had any problems.  Thailand's mains supplied water is treated...obviously.

If you boiled it you should survive, but tap water is dirty water

Not if it is mains supplied, it isn't.

We got sick from just brushing our teeth with tap water while staying in a condo a couple of years back.

The water supply was from tanks on the roof, gravity fed to the rooms.

Surely there's more chance of baddies in the water supply if it's stored in tanks, rather than mains supplied?

And whether it's filtered or not.

Probably also makes a difference if in a city, or rural.

Either way, an upset stomach for a day or two, and vomit down my leg courtesy of my daughter while in the elevator.

That was the total extent of the illness.

Best advice would be to carry a pack of tissues, and don't stray too far from a toilet for the next few days.

Have you considered "Industrial Disease"?

How do you think that the water gets to the tank...it's mains supplied.
