It might be "proposed" as a means of reducing prison overcrowding?

Initial trials to start for elderly male prisoners, with suitable secure homes, in the next couple of weeks...

Only smoke..............blown up there by his myopic supporters.

Where there's smoke there's mirrors. Prison officers will be heard to say "I admire your guts Sir"

A nosedive with his jet?

We might have to wait a year for that (allegedly). Perhaps a royal pardon could come sooner?  Or maybe a sudden exit, Epstein style? I have my popcorn at the ready!

I hope he goes through the normal strip search and squat to make sure he got nothing up his bum,

My advice is don't bend over when picking up the soap in a shared shower room!

No—Thaksin cannot appeal the Supreme Court’s ruling. The decision handed down on September 9, 2025, by Thailand’s Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions is final and unappealable

But extremely appealing . 😂

Now lets see if he (actually ) spends time in a jail cell. I'm thinking there's not enough room in the cell for both him and his ego! This is epic news (to me anyway)

Totally agree 100% with your comment.

Amarni, Antonio - Booked into the Ritz, Dubai.
Shinawatra, Thaksin - (kind of a body-double) Booked into, somewhere, under "Department of Corrections’ Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This included verification of his identity against the court warrant, creation of an inmate record, health screening, and searches for contraband and prohibited items. His personal belongings were managed according to regulations, and he was briefed on prison rules and regulations before being placed in the reception area for classification."

I bet Antonio is going to completely fall off of the radar for the next year.

Probably be the prison councillor or librarian

So now there'll be an appeal process? And further Get Out of Jail cards to play, including air navigation matters ...

There is no appeal from the Supreme Court, other than a request for a royal pardon, as far as I know

Didn't take long for the jail rape aficionados to turn up did it?

has it triggered you? again

There isn't.

Are there other prisons in Thailand where he could possibly get a * better* stay than in Bangkok ? Personally I don’t believe that anyone his age and position should be treated as a common criminal / thug/ dealer/ murderer.

Only my opinion  of course which holds no weight.

Not particularly, I don't get triggered by that sort of thing. Just consider it as a cynical reaction to what is I suppose an inevitable and rather pathetic enthusiasm.

In fact I am mildly surprised that it took 24 hours to surface! As someone interested in classic cinema I appreciate the Marlon Brando allusion - "Last Tango in Klong Prem" ?

Something was agreed, otherwise he would not have returned!

And don't forget he was released on pardon. Someone very high up indeed may not take particularly kindly to that pardon being effectively cancelled.

One thing Teflon Tony has in his favor is he's as cunning as a toilet rodent. Right now he'll hellbent to find out who let him down. He was set up to  believe all would be sweet to return. Even best mates in Thailand can do the dirty on their friends where there's a huge amount of money for their services.

Somebody mentioned butter and I merely highlighted the potential beneficial properties of it in a prison environment, no enthusiasm involved at all. The only thing that's pathetic is your "cynical reaction" and smarmy attitude

Thaskin is a murderer in the eyes of the UN and  Other international human rights organizations he was resposible for over 2500 deaths

no need for a "huge" amount    they will sell each other out for peanuts

get your facts right before you post  he was not released on pardon   the pardon from the king REDUCED his sentence from 8 yrs to 1 yr and the pardon was not cancelled

I dont understand because I remember reading he was granted a royal pardon???

I don't really think that you understand the meaning of smarmy. Moreover you are the one who gratuitously introduced anal rape of prisoners, (with butter as a lubricant),  into the discussion, are you not? And then expanded the discussion to encompass name calling!

he did  the pardon was to reduce his sentence from 8 yrs to 1 yr

Correct, and your point is?

OK, point taken, although I find it hard to believe that the subsequent release on grounds of clemency was not, umh, authorised.

Great! While you’re at it, reinstate the original sentence he got before he fled the country back in the day!!!

what release  on grounds of clemency   you need to read or google Thaskin  you are way off track

I don't think so. That was a decision of the supreme Court, nothing higher to appeal to.

In the unlikely event he does go to jail you can be sure he will have a private luxury cell with every convenience known to man...

Some arrangement similar to the one Escobar got, minus the hookers, maybe.
