Really?   Who has done prison time for Thaksin (and for what offence)?

TWO FORMER top executives of state-owned Krungthai Bank were each sentenced to 18 years in jail

They are/were not doing time for him after he was convicted of an offence, as some poster suggested happens, they were doing time for their involvement in the case!

  • Lock him up. He already wriggled out of the first try. No bail, no appeal, like monopoly, "Go straight to jail".

  • He will not serve one day in a prison cell.

  • Well you could knock me over with a feather at this time. No way I would predict this.I thought he was tipped off and all was okay for his return. Now lets see if he (actually ) spends time in a

The only special privilege he will get will be access to the over-60s and disabled toilet that has a half-door for privacy as opposed to public performing.

If you believe a man of his wealth and influence will not get special treatment, you know zilch about the Thai prison system.

As I said before, they have a large hospital floors with separate bays, where influential prisoners spend their time in air conditioned areas with access to internet.

"...where influential prisoners spend their time in air conditioned areas with access to internet".

Only if they are admitted to the Klong Prem hospital (which is not airconditioned).   You have any evidence that what you claim is true?

"...you know zilch about the Thai prison system".

And you, having never been incarcerated there do?     Do me a favour.

Thaksin has a reputation for not taking care of most of the people who do prison time for him.  This is what Dogmatix wrote,

I don't think he means people went to prison to replace Thaksin, a double as it were, I think he means people working for Thaksin, and for Yingluk as well, were sent down for long stretches whilst both Thaksin and Yingluk fled the country to avoid the charges.

I really do not want to decry your experience of the Thai Prison system, which I am sure was comprehensively awful, but does it really equip you to describe the conditions under which a main of Thaksin's wealth, status and influence will be kept? Presumably you were a member of the "general prison population" and not free to roam the place observing every aspect of it's "facilities"?

Now it's time to deal with the medical staff who participated in this farce.

So it seems like the real question everyone here is trying to ask is..

Will this dodgy billionaire bastardo endure hardship and suffering in jail as part of his comeuppance.. or will he use his billionaire superpowers to get an extra serving of gruel and a poster of fussy britches?

Are we allowed to bet on what he gets for breakfast ?

Seeing a few of the posts about a body double seems quite feasible. Most Nation leaders have a stand-in for them that looks exactly like them. It is quite possible that this is also the reason Thaksin flew to Dubai and then Singapore just prior to the courts hearing on this.

I still don't buy his leaving the country to see the doctors there when Thailands Siriraj hospital have very good doctors for the wealthy and famous and even the royalty.

All smiles in the photos with thumbs up? He went through such great efforts to keep out of prison, i seriously doubt he would be showing smiles heading back there unless???

I would if you hadn't posted that "BS" comment/request.  I, on the other hand, never post BS, if you can find some, quote it here.

There no such accommodation in Klong Prem.

How would you know what or where he will stay there or anywhere else over time? Got an answer or just googling info?

I doubt you will get very little news coverage only from those visiting him, namely little miss muppet and others.

Exactly my point.  Anything you hear will be slanted to fit whatever narrative they want you to hear

Seeing is believing with this one

He will spend it in his luxury villa, under house arrest, as an article the other day stated about reducing overcrowding in prison. Then he will continue to interfere in politics. If there was even a slightest chance of actually sitting in a prison cell he would still be in Dubai.

No appeals court is possible UNLESS it is a constitutional issue and then that would go to the constitutional court.  Only way out now is a pardon... which if there was a ruling that the medical process was the issue.... I am pretty sure there are people in the prior government (aka coup government) that were part of this scheme and everything was worked out... which might be at risk if Thaksin feels he is free to spill the beans.  He would not have come back unless everything was choreographed.

At least not in a normal cell, private cell with TV, internet access, fridge and meals from outside...... or home detention for a year being more likely.

Though I can probably think of a few people who deserve a year or more in prison, more than Thaksin does, this is a great result. He richly deserves to spend some time in the slammer, though it will more than likely be a luxury type facility, but it still makes a good statement to the Thai nation.

The Authorities and powers are very kind to Thaksin.

They could have investigated whether Thaksin committed deception on the State by pretending to be sick or "terminally ill" which was certified by some very big-name doctors high up in the Thai medical council. Had the court investigated, all these doctors will be in trouble and Thaksin would have got a worse deal with new charges and add-on jail time..... vs the current order for him to just serve the time he used in the hospital.

He is either very lucky again ... and may have slither his way out again.

They paroled him last time so they will probably do it again, only quicker than the 6 months before.

A timage.jpeg.fd13c70b3d90f02a4b40db5928016e9f.jpegtypical cell measures 1.5 x 3 metres (5 x 10 feet) and sleeps five inmates, side-by-side on dark blue mattress on the floor.

do you not read the news ??? they are investigating if  Thaksin committed deception and the people who helped him this is only the tip of the iceberg    there will be more to come read the news

Suprised I am, not expected, but I like it that at least he is convicted and will have a record..Wondering how they will lock him in..

Is there a luxury wing / ex politicians wing / are there better cells at Klong Prem? Perhaps with private bathrooms?

That is a semi-VIP cell, regular cells are much more overcrowded.

Oooh now it's time to disappear again, and again, and again. Perhaps meet up with the other family member that's also avoiding (JAIL. )
