Violence Erupts at Tommy Robinson Protest, 26 Officers Hurt

riot.jpg

London, UK — At least 26 police officers were injured, four seriously, during far-right activist Tommy Robinson’s Unite the Kingdom rally in central London, which drew an estimated 150,000 people—far more than organisers had expected.

The Metropolitan Police reported that officers were attacked with bottles, kicks, and punches while attempting to separate Robinson’s supporters from around 5,000 counter-protesters at a nearby Stand Up To Racism demonstration. Injuries included broken teeth, concussion, a prolapsed disc, and suspected fractures.

Assistant Commissioner Matt Twist confirmed 25 arrests, warning “this is just the start” as the Met pledged to track down those responsible for violent disorder. Riot police, mounted units, and dogs were deployed to keep crowds apart after protesters ignored police directions and forced their way toward secure areas.

At one point, a glass bottle struck a police horse, causing the animal and its rider to stumble. Scuffles also broke out in Trafalgar Square as officers wielded batons to push back protesters.

Robinson’s Speech and Political Backdrop

Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, addressed supporters at what he called a “freedom of speech festival,” attacking politicians and UK courts over recent rulings on asylum seekers. Tech billionaire Elon Musk also appeared via video link to speak to the crowd.

The Metropolitan Police said the turnout far exceeded expectations, creating unsafe overcrowding around Whitehall and Parliament Square.

Government Response

Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood condemned the violence, promising that “anyone taking part in criminal activity will face the full force of the law.”

Police leaders praised officers for “policing without fear or favour” in what was described as one of the largest public order operations in recent years, with 1,600 officers drafted in from across the country.

Key Takeaways:

  • 150,000 rally: Tommy Robinson’s London protest far surpassed organisers’ estimates.

  • 26 officers injured: Four seriously hurt as violence flared; 25 arrests made so far.

  • Police overwhelmed: Riot units, horses, and dogs used to keep rival groups apart.

Um, I watched it live.  There were significantly more than 150,000 people. I paused the video on an aerial shot of one small section of the crowd and did a rough (but conservative) head count of a sample size of the screen, then multiplied that number by the total area.  This one shot of a very small section of the crowd was circa 25,000.

There were at the very least a million people there, probably significantly more.  The videos are on youtube - anybody can take a look and do their own numbers.

The MSM, gotta lov'em. :coffee1:

i watched it too, stumbled across a stream someone was doing from their phone and picked up by the 'Times.'.

The problem arose when the patriots were in Trafalgar square, and a load of pro Hamas Palestinian flag waving terrorist supporters tried to attack the peaceful rally.

Hopefully the police can get hold of this footage and prosecute these trouble makers.

Only thing missing was Greta.....

As was expected, in stead of admitting the protesters resorted to violence, pointing at others.

"The Unite the Kingdom protest had "exceeded the estimates of organisers", the force said, which meant there was not enough space for them all in Whitehall and Parliament Square.

Large crowds ignored police directions and tried to get into secure areas and spots occupied by those participating in the Stand Up To Racism protest.

"When officers intervened to block their path they were assaulted with kicks and punches," the Met said, adding that riot police, horses and dogs were used to keep the opposing groups apart.

People scaled fencing and scaffolding around Whitehall which put "themselves and others in danger", the Met added."

What the BBC are not reporting is upto the Day of the March the comitee asked for permission to march to Trafalgar Square due the possibilty of a high turn out. It was refused and they were forced to march onStreets not wide enough for a large crowd, and a crush was inevitable. The Police refused to remove barricades when people were being crushed. Of course that will be denied.

150,000 "protestors", 26 arrests and 25 officers injured.

This passes for "violence erupting" in London?

You may well be right. However, I was replying to a post claiming that: "The problem arose when the patriots were in Trafalgar square, and a load of pro Hamas Palestinian flag waving terrorist supporters tried to attack the peaceful rally."

It may have been the case in other protests, I don't know! However, in this particular case, I don't see any source showing that the anti-protesters were responsible for the clash.

The force said the turnout for the “Unite the Kingdom” protest was too big to fit into Whitehall, and the violence began when police tried to stop people from encircling counter-protesters and accessing the area from different routes.

Two bunches of thugs competing for attention.  Not surprising there was violence.  You have to feel sorry for the police.

I watched the live stream with my own eyes from the 'Times'-  extreme left wing agitators moving up Whitehall trying to get to the peaceful patriots in Trafalgar Square.

Usually it's the police inviting in the lefty thugs ...... So no sympathy from me.

In the UK the police are usually the problem, and not the solution.

Had it be a muslim preacher saying what Musk had said the moral outrage would have been extreme. These idiots need locking up.

Who is funding them, that should be the question?

The sad nonsense is british immigrants in Thailand, who themselves have left their country for a better life, are really into this racist rhetoric.
