He has not left prison.

They will also discuss his parole eligibility with the prison.

Parole eligibility is prescribed, surely his lawyer knows this. There is no need for the lawyer to attend in person to discuss it.......is there?

One of my wife's pals was in bkk prison.

She could order in anything she likes from grab

She even had netflix in her private room.

Cost her 100kbht/month

Does anyone really believe Thaksin gets less?

Yes, of course.  Article says he is still in the prison hospital, not a prison cell.  Good if it's wrong and he's back in a prison cell with the other prisoners.

So he has no health issues, but is being kept in the hospital anyway. Sounds familiar! And I must admit that I personally have never had to wait for the "results" from a lung x-ray - a skilled radiologist can generally tell at a glance whether there are any anomalies requiring further study.

Agreed. A skilled doctor conducted my medical for drivers licence renewal 5 years ago. He looked at me and asked "How Old are You?" 63 I replied. "You Look Good for Your Age."....Papers signed.🙃🙃

Pretty sure with a bit of research you'll get up to speed in the near future.🙃🙃

Not so much soft power, more thin and crispy.

When he asked for some dominoes I think they got the wrong end of the stick.

telfon toni may be many things, but of course not soooo corrupt to buy pizza's for the guards ... :cheesy:

Geeze. He's a billionaire. You think it would be lobster pizza. He's even a tight ars. e in trying to get favours from prison guards. Does he not realise he does not have that long to live. Thank God.

Why are some so delusional with their hatred for P'Thaksin ?

Because he is an ass..hole. My question is to you why do you think he is a good person, Especially after you google what his past history is?

Giving the poor folks, universal healthcare in 2002 was pretty good.  Probably saved a million or so lives, making millions more healthier and having a better, longer life.   The rest is simple politics.

The 30 baht health scheme is good but unlike the UK's NHS, it doesn't cover adequately all diseases and conditions.

If someone gets a serious disease, they will often have to pay, often beyond the means of the poor.

Secondly, state hospitals often mean long waits for treatment which is why private clinics abound in Thailand, frequently opposite the government hospital! These clinics are usually run by doctors from the state hospital who make far more from their private clinics than their government salary.

I don't want to sound cynical but it's not in the doctor's interest to have all the patients quickly seen to in the government hospital!

so the rest simple politics !!!  responsible for killing 2500 people is simple politics !!!

A Radiologist is a specialist doctor I would be surprised if one is employed at the prison a radiographer yes.

Sounds like the same as the UK's NHS, from some of the things I read.   Considering TH is 3rd world IMHO, it's certain a lot better that before Thaksin was PM, and impossible to debate.

Next week I have an appointment for a pre-op assesment prior to my operation to repair a hernia and fortunately I won't have to pay an extortionate 30 baht either.

If he did buy pizzas, I have a feeling that it ranks fairly low on the corruption scale in terms of bribes paid

Thaksin finds this funny. "I've done nothing wrong!" he laughs. "I just give the policy."

Human rights commissioner Wasant Panich thinks otherwise. "Those who devised the policy are primarily responsible for the deaths,"

"Lawyers have suggested that Thaksin's drug war might amount to a crime against humanity under Article Seven of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court [ICC], set up in 1992."

From Google:

The Thai government froze Thaksin’s assets in June 2007, and the following February he returned to Thailand to face corruption charges. In August 2008, shortly after his wife was convicted of tax evasion and while both were out on bail, the couple fled the country. Thaksin was tried in absentia, and in October 2008 he was found guilty of corruption and sentenced to two years in prison. The couple subsequently divorced, and Potjaman returned to Thailand, where her sentence was suspended.

In July 2011 the Pheu Thai Party, a pro-Thaksin party headed by Thaksin’s younger sister, Yingluck Shinawatra, won the majority of parliamentary seats in the country’s general elections, and in August Yingluck became prime minister. That victory opened the door for Thaksin’s possible return to Thailand, and in 2013 Yingluck’s government attempted to grant amnesty to those involved in the political tensions between 2006 and 2010, which, it was believed, would include her brother. The proposal, however, caused massive protests. Yingluck was ousted in 2014, and she later joined her brother in exile after being charged with (and later convicted of) corruption. On August 22, 2023, Thaksin returned to Thailand from a 15-year self-imposed exile, a move that led to speculation that he had struck a deal with military-linked parties to reduce his prison sentence. His return coincided with his party agreeing to join a coalition with the pro-military Palang Pracharath Party (associated with outgoing Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha) about three months after the 2023 general elections. Shortly after Thaksin’s arrival, a Thai court ordered him to serve an eight-year prison sentence for corruption and abuse of power. However, after less than a day in jail, he was transferred to a hospital.

Now is that a history of a nice guy?
