  • obvious , at least to me, that they had to have known him or at the least seen him at some time close up, to have known he had the watch This is not some random attack

  • Tough lesson to learn the hard way. DON'T flaunt that kind of bling here.

  • It could also be a copywatch from Mr Wong and then again it could also be an insurance scam

Bhutan

I've been there once, but I wouldn't want to live there the way I can in Thailand.

Maybe Monaco.

Dubai? Not sure what the crime is like there, but probably a lot of folks flashing bling.

Should not take the police long to catch these guys havecthe vehicle plus prints

If Foreigner's jailed then deported will be interesting to 👀 what Nationality

It's going to be a race to the border. If the suspects get caught it's going to be an easy case to prosecute. Guilty on multiple accounts.

but you did comment 😂

Can't help himself.

stupid man.  anybody who wears a watch costing over $200 in public is asking for it.  especially when in dodgy countries.  serves him right.  now go buy a G-Shock with the insurance money. btw, it could have been a insurance scam?

i understand that buying expensive watches as a investment make sense as long as they are not worn in public, but kept in a safe place.

Witnesses and the victim reported that the assailants concealed their faces and spoke fluent English, suggesting they were foreign nationals.

So covering your face and speaking English well makes you foreign?/ WTAF 🤣 Maybe they covered there faces because they're Thai and would be easier to identify. Or maybe, they covered their faces because, well, that's what robbers do!! And I love the bigotry of low expectations - no Thai could ever speak fluent English. 🤔

Alot of insecure people will do anything to impress. But, wearing a watch like that in a nation where it represents 10x the average annual salary is just dumb. Bad instincts. Poor survival skills. Dumb and dumber.

It is only my opinion but it seems wherever one goes in the world, there are more thieves and opportunists ready and willing to steal what others have.  Poor  or relatively poor people (as suggested) are not usually those thieves or opportunists even in Phuket and Pattaya. In any event, what's the point of having such valuables if you cant wear them?

Probably Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, Chinese, Korean?

Article stated the robbers spoke perfect English, has to be an American.

Going to go for Brits for this followed by French and third choice Russians .

This is usually a favourite crime of Brits , but in Thailand why would you bother as there are so many people wearing fakes .

Unless of course they knew him and had met him a few times so sussed out it was real . Pretty sure will be caught soon trying to flog it .

This kind of thing hardly ever happens in the UK except for London, and that has a population that's only about one third white British. In the provinces where I live I don't think I've ever heard of street robbery.

Most (mainland) Chinese cannot speak English, or, at least, do so with a heavy accent.

Pretty much mostly London, but in Phuket they have all the beach clubs where people can go and show off like they own the place buying bottle after bottle of booze surrounded by pay to play women .

Perfect location for low life criminals to bump into people flaunting designer clothing with expensive watches and bragging about how much money or crypto they have .

So it's hunting season again - oh well ............

Wearing expensive gold chains or watches anywhere in the world will make you a target for criminal elements.....and "insurance" set-ups!🙄
