An altercation occurred in Pattaya between a foreign man and Thai bar workers after he refused to pay his bill at a bar near Central Pattaya early on September 21. As tensions rose, local police arrived promptly due to the bar’s proximity to a police station. A video posted on the Facebook page หลังคาแดงตีแผ่ 2 พิทยา showed the confrontation, with two bar workers attacking the man, who initially tried to defend himself before pleading for them to stop.

The incident began when the man, wearing a black T-shirt and shorts, refused to cover the cost of his alcoholic drinks, allegedly leading to an argument. Amid the clash, he reportedly knocked over tables and chairs. A Thai woman, identified as the bar owner, instructed him to leave, and he eventually complied after gathering his belongings. Police observed the event and later questioned the involved parties.

Though tensions were high, the bar owner decided not to press charges against the foreigner for the unpaid bill. Similarly, the man chose not to file a police report regarding the assault. Both parties emerged unscathed, avoiding any severe injuries.

This type of conflict is not unprecedented in Thailand's tourist areas. In May, a similar issue arose in Phuket when a foreign woman refused to pay for her food and drinks, using various excuses. Earlier, in March, ladyboys attacked a foreign tourist on Bangla Road in a comparable situation, and another incident involved a man beaten after not paying a marked-up bill in Pattaya.

Looking forward, authorities are likely to increase their vigilance in these areas to prevent similar occurrences, especially in spots frequented by tourists. With repeated incidents surfacing, there may be discussions about implementing stricter measures or policies to manage disputes between tourists and local businesses more efficiently.

Key Takeaways

  • A foreign man was involved in a bar altercation in Pattaya for not paying his bill.
  • Police arrived swiftly due to the bar's proximity to a station.
  • No legal action was pursued, and no severe injuries were reported.

The foreigner felt maybe he was scammed and refuse to pay the incorrect bill, while the attackers like to get rid of their xenophobic feelings on the man.. good for the Thai tourism..

Or maybe the fact the guy is a total loser and didn't want to pay at all.

The Muay Thai guy needs locking up.  He could barely contain his glee to practice his moves on an older, slighter, foreign guy.  Shame the bar is not named as it needs boycotting.

Otherwise?

Normally it's down to the bar adding drinks to his bill, it always was in my case, Im not against buying a drink and one night I asked the girl what she would like, she said Jack/Coke ok fine, I picked up the glass and there was not Jack Daniels in it, I was also with a friend I asked him can you smell any? nope,

How stupid was that? we don't look like tourist and I can speak Thai, They were not happy they had been caught, That was here in Phuket,

The story never said if he paid his bill in the end, or not?

The whole city is being boycotted at the moment.

At my age I don't go to bars as often as I used to. If I do go to a bar and the bin isn't placed on my table as soon as the drink is delivered I finish the drink and pay and never go back to that bar again.
