Small Batteries.

Featured Replies

Is this the Bangkok Forum? I am still trying to get used to this new AN layout.

Can anyone tell me any shops in Bangkok that deals with supplying and fitting a small battery to a small gadget? In my case the gadget used to get access to my Virgin Money bank account in the UK. Thanks.

what is the gadget ?

Yeah this be BKK forum.

Even if you managed to change the battery, it does not mean it will work as it did before: https://www.facebook.com/groups/ElectronicParts/posts/2444287509093903/

Ask your bank to send another or use their mobile application. https://uk.virginmoney.com/current-accounts/pca/app-features/

https://uk.virginmoney.com/service/sign-in/ Have you registered your mobile number in so they can send you OTP?

If the "gadget" is a card reader, you can probably change the batteries yourself. There's a few YouTube videos describing how.

Just google search for your model of card reader.

Here's an example ...

Are you meaning a card reader?

If so, I think they're a thing of the past now.

I had a few before, from different (UK) banks, and I found that they all worked the same as each other ie, you could use one bank's card in another bank's reader, without issue.

Do you have another reader you can try?

Yes, I was in the UK last Sept and the Virgin Money branch siad they would send gadget out to me within 3 weeks. They never did, I have sent them a letter and now waiting for an answer. Thanks for these links. I will be in Bangkok next week and because of Virgin Money's incompetence I cannot get into my account.

Yes that is it, I sent to Lazada and they sent me the right batteries with the wrong number, I tried it and it did not work. It is so cheap it is not worth going through all the hassle and time it will take to get the right one.

I asked for 3V. CR2032. and they sent me 3V.  CR2025.

That is why i asked about a shop in Bangkok.

No I do not have another one. I was hoping I could buy a battery in Bangkok if someone could tell me where.

Thanks Trans.

I have a feeling you may still have issues logging in, even with a working card reader.

AFAIK the card readers were used, amongst other things, for generating codes, usually when you set up a new payee on your account.

I've never known them used for registering or entering online banking.

Hopefully I'm wrong and it is what you need to get access to your account.

As for where in BKK, surely a watch repairer, or key cutter could help and fit new batteries.

  • 3 weeks later...

If can't do it yourself ask a watch repair place. Have had them replace gate key fob batteries for me before so imagine they will do any device.

You have to get a new electronic number card, free from the bank, but sadly 6000 miles away.

I was able to get a battery and managed to fit it myself but every time I switch it on all I get is a full row of 0's which only stays for a split second.

Unfortunately no.

Go to a car key shop. They fit small batteries to car keys and may able to fit such a battery to your gadget. I buy my small batteries (2016, 2025, 2032 etc from Mr DIY or Lazada. Lazada is pretty cheap...7/11 is much more expensive.

Thanks but as I said I managed to buy the correct battery and fit it myself but it still does not work.

Yep I had the same problem, I think it was humidity that forked it, you'll need someone in the UK to send it by registered post, you'll need to borrow one from a Brit, any bank will do, and change your address to theirs, post cost was about 10quid. ( I also had to do the same for new ATM card ).good luck.

From memory my daughter went to the bank and they just gave her a new one, saying it was for her dad. Or you can find someone going back for a short time and they can bring one for you, I now have two. If mail worked on this site I could send you one, but all you get is "Mail unavailable" reporting it to Support is just ignored.

While were on batteries

Anyone seen Duracel ? I bring them up from Aus but i dont visit as often and Everready National all go soft weap in Phuket

I have quite a few aaa remotes im changing out to prevent the weap

Not if you include freight, now at 80baht min.

Every 7-Eleven store has a good selection of batteries...especially button cells.

I answered your mail but I don't see my reply, did you receive it ?

I used to have a small keypad for my bank and when the battery went had to get a new one. That then had to be set up for the account, couldn't do it myself and had to go to the branch.

Fortuntely that has been superceded with the introduction of the app. I never took much notice of the app, until my son told me you could generate the log in code from it.

Does your bank have a phone app, if so, maybe worth looking into.

Mr.DIY is the place to go, though very few stock our 1620 key fob battery, so, bought a strip of 5 Panasonic batteries on Lazada for 45 bht.....:clap2:
