Police detained a Danish man and a Thai woman after they were found engaging in sexual activity on a floating pontoon offshore at Jomtien Beach in Pattaya, an incident that shocked onlookers. The couple were brought ashore late on Saturday night and taken in for questioning, with officers warning that such behaviour in public could lead to legal action.

 

The incident occurred at 10.05pm on 20 December 2025 near Jomtien Beach, close to Soi Jomtien 5–7. The discovery was reported by a 27-year-old tourist identified only as Bas, who was walking along the beach at the time.

 

Bas said he was collecting shells when he noticed a foreign man and a Thai woman on a floating swimming pontoon in the sea. He described the man as white-skinned and bald and said both appeared to be unclothed and engaged in sexual activity that could be seen and heard from the beach.

 

According to Bas, people were present along the shoreline and could only stand and watch, with some recording video as evidence. He contacted Pattaya City Police to intervene. Officers from Pattaya City Police Station arrived shortly afterwards and identified themselves to the couple. The Danish national and the Thai woman were instructed to dress appropriately and return to shore for further questioning.

 

During initial questioning, the Thai woman told police she had never done anything like this before. She claimed she had recently travelled to Pattaya for the first time after fleeing concerns about border conflict in Surin and said the situation escalated after she met the foreign man and they went swimming together.

 

SiamRath reported that police said the couple’s actions were inappropriate for a public space and could undermine public order. Both individuals were taken to the police station for further questioning and formally warned. Officers confirmed that charges would be considered and pursued in accordance with legal procedures. Police said further steps would depend on the outcome of the investigation and applicable laws.
