Recommendations For 2 Mates Drinking etc in Pattaya

Hey Guys.  I am meeting up with my mate from the UK on Wednesday in pattaya, and could do with some info from some of the regulars on here on some good things to do.

I live in Hua Hin and he is on his first visit to Thailand.  Both male, early 40's and from UK.  No women in tow.......

Can anyone recommend  some good day time and night time activities please?  Nighttime especially...... :)

What are the best areas to take him for beers?  We will be staying near soi 6!  I am thinking Soi 6, Soi bukhao, LK Metro and walking street......   anyone recommend any other areas, or any specific bars / restaurants / gogos / clubs that are especially good fun and decent value at the minute please?

Any tips greatly welcome.......

PS i searched the first 10 pages of the forum but could not see a similar thread, but apologies if this has been done to death recently

Those four target-rich environments that you already mention are pretty much it. Some may add the Soi 7 & 8 neck of the woods. Since Soi 6's 'daytime-is-playtime' has been proscribed by the authorities, I may suggest an afternoon trip to the darkside (the other side of Sukhumvit) if time permits.

Not done to death on this forum but threads by single blokes asking what to do in Pattaya of a night tends to bring out the indiscreet and forum rule-breaking comments. There are other forums where all the information you desire is available but typically it's not this one.

Rolling Live in Soi 8 has good live music and a good vibe later in the evening.

Some other specifics as ideas -

Scooters bars (Soi 6, LK metro and Soi Buakhow) for (usually) some interesting scenery and reasonable drink prices

Billabong on LK - but not because of the live band..........

If you want sport then maybe Retox Game On at the bottom of Soi Honey and Second road or any one of the bars in Soi New Plaza (runs between 2nd Road and Soi Buakhow opposite Soi 8/7.

Someone recommended the band at Triangle bar on corner of Soi Excite and Chaiyapoon with a couple of infamous massage shops opposite..........

Best value club Walking Street Disco (otherwise know as Red Car) - beers 110baht, usually lots of scenery after 12. I bar/Insomnia I think 160baht.

For a quieter dinner and respite from the "action" Pattaya Beer Garden at the entrance to WS.,

Day time - go karting near Bali Hai, 10 pin bowling or massage at one of the literally 1000s of massage shops. Cheapest I know for straight Thai massage 100 baht per hour at the end of Soi Buakhow new Central road - about 10 shops.

I preferred Soi 7 and 8 to Soi 6. Different places altogether.

Walking St is good for looking and Gogos, LK Metro for big bars and sports on screen.

No one should be posting specifics about "that" as not allowed on TVF. There is a forum that deals with that- google.

There's a couple of soapy massage places near Marina Mall, if your mate would like to try.

there are 5,000 bars give or take. start in the first one you see and work your way through them one drink at a time

Golf is a daytime option.  Or a trip to Koh Larn. You won't be bored.

Golf OK, but Koh Larn you will be sharing with 1.5 million from China.

And that is just the ferry.

I sometimes find that the smaller beer bars with few customers can be just as much fun as the busy places...just DONT ring the bell.

I have  found some " staff" that actually just want to TALK with you to practice their english.

If there are balloons around it usually means a party that night ( staff or owner) and can be a good night.

I recommend the golf around Pattaya. The caddies are fun, drinks are cheap and you don't have to shoot a low score to have fun. Just don't swing the club more than making a double par on each hole. 10 strokes on a par 5 is enough, just call it good and go on.

A visit to the Soi LK Mero/Soi Diana all around the Soi Baukau area will give you everything you need all in a short bar crawl distance. Perfect for you. Would recommend Boss Bar for ex pats at night.

Very good recommendation- but sadly I'm not sure that is exactly what they are after- more exploitation of the indigenous population and liver damage .

That'll certainly happen if they follow wombat's recommendation and visit 5000 bars.

You have a good idea good luck on what you decide.  Unfortunately, in my experience with hosting visitors on 2 occasions they are negative and judgmental.

They always seem to want to find the "model quality" girls and generally have a bad attitude about this place.

Never again will I host some supposed "buddy" from my home country.

Too bad for them......

Never stayed long enough to hear any band but their "buy-2-get-1-free" happy hour deal is pretty good for a late afternoon, early evening session.

...maybe that's why I'm half cut by song thoom and miss the band!

The staff are very sharp too and seldom do you have to call a waitress when you need a fresh bottle.

I will also recommend Rolling Live in Soi 8......didnt expect my 17 year old to like it but he loved it and it was regrettable we were going home next day. I cant stand Adele (or that ginger whinger sheeran) but excellent renditions of their music

In case someone is interested as far as an attractive Price/Reward Ratio is concerned: Soi 13/2 (soi Post Office) and Soi 13/1 (Soi Yamato).
Cheers.

A good little bar is down the end of soi bukhuao in soi new plaza.

It's called Lock & Load bungalow and the owner Mike is a good mate of mine. It's a great little expat bar with music every night and karaoke if you like it.

He has the coldest beer in town and probably close to the cheapest too.

No doubt expats like it. But these are "lads" jetting in on holiday from the boring UK ... karaoke might not be their aspiration ... can imagine them turning up in the pub back home wearing T-shirts "Good guys go to Heaven, but Bad Boys sing Karaoke". Naa ... don't think so !

Not this one - if Karaoke is on I'm out of there as quick as I can check bin - and most of the guys I know are the same.

Yeah I'm not a huge fan of karaoke either but besides that it's a good little bar.
