TNews reported that a truck driver refused to accept responsibility for an accident in Ubon Ratchathani.

The truck makes a U-turn maneuver from a central lane into the path of Kanrawee Phosawang as she drives on the far right lane.

She is unable to avoid side swiping the truck and ends up in her badly damaged vehicle in the central reservation. Fortunately she was only shaken.

A police report was handled by the Kheuang Nai cops.

Despite the footage the truck driver would not accept blame.

He told Kanrawee to take him to court.

Dash cam footage from Kanrawee's car featured her repeatedly saying: "He didn't indicate at all".

The footage was shared to the "Jao Phor Clip Det" site on Facebook.

Looking at the video and some stills from the scene of the 'accident' one hopes the police note that the truck driver moved his truck back about 1 m from the actual point of impact AFTER the collision. It then looks like she was shooting the gap and overtaking inside the hard shoulder and he was still inside the yellow line.

BTW, it was BMW she was driving and in Thailand that automatically entitles the driver to right of way regardless.

Bloody chancers the lot of 'em.

And this "U-turn" looks like another completely illegal makeshift thing done by locals stomping some mud over the ditch.

No signs, no separate driveway.

Crazy dangerous and easily ignored by police.

I can't find the lady driver guilty for the speed she was traveling.

Proper U-turns are announced and clearly visible and motivate me to be extra cautious.

But here?

THE THAIS CAN'T DRIVE.

This is something so obvious that we are all in agreement with so let's move on to more serious matters and not have another 10 pages of how we can potentially fix the problem because it is cultural and they lack the willpower and ability to fix it so save yourself the bother of typing out nonsense.

Please speak for yourself.

Typical Thai driving

The lady

1-Too fast for conditions

2-No spatial awareness

3-Should always anticipate that the other driver will do something stupid

4-Too late breaking

Truck driver

1-no spatial awareness and/or failure to use rearview mirror.

Thai drivers seem to be unable to think analytically about many things and also unable to process thought rapidly. They don't seem to be able judge the consequences of the risk they take or maybe don't understand the risk they are taking. Kind of unbelievable considering all the news and videos on the subject of highway deaths.

how about the police take him to court and prosecute him for careless driving - oh wait what is the point, it will be a 500baht fine and a (deleted) you to the person he nearly killed through his own stupidity.

what was he trying to do anyway, he is not exactly driving an 18 wheeler

Unless the lady in the fast Beemer has been unable to get justice or compensation since last year since (maybe) the (local) truck driver paid the (local) cops fastest and they said she's in the wrong?

Truck drivers a <deleted> but she could have avoided the wreck
