What car do you drive in Thailand?

 

Just last week I bought my first car (ever), Toyota Hilux Vigo 2015. Diesel, manual, 110 000 Km for 430 000 Baht. I'm quiet happy with it so far.

 

What about others?

Yeah I got a pickup and a car.

First car ever? Are you 17?

Ancient Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 which we bought new, now it's the "go and get the building materials" car. This was the first car I had ever bought new.

 

Isuzu Mu-X 3.0 4x4 again bought new, now 3 years old. General use car, used to go to work when we're not locked down.

I moved to Thailand in my very early twenties. So I didn't get a chance to own a car back in my country. And then it took a few years to set up my life here. So here I am with my first car... .

I thought that 4x4 is bought just once. Then people realize it's useless to them/expensive/another thing to break and take care of and move on.... .

Honda City ZX 2008 - might look for a bargain soon - think I will get something bigger - but not that big.

 

Where is best place to look for private used cars - not a dealer/trader (dont trust ever).  I know a little about cars and can see the basic issues eg. if they are damaged/repaired etc.

Some people don't live in an Urban Jungle and actually need/use the 4x4 of their vehicle.

Have a 2015 Mitsu Triton that I bought new.

Much depends where you live, the job you do and the roads you use.

 

My work vehicle gets used in 4x4 mode regularly during the wet season, construction sites tend to get muddy. Most definitely not a Chelsea Tractor.

Here is our beauty all wrapped up before we picked her up 4 years ago - Still looks and runs like new.

I tend to drive the old Nissan Big M during the week...

 

But at weekends

Got a 2016 Hilux Revo 4 door Prerunner. Only 25k. Drive it around the village and rare trips to a surrounding province. Very strong car for someone like and enjoy driving it and looking at the roofs of the smaller cars. 

 

Just bought Volvo V60 T8 407 BHP and not crazy money like some European cars here

Just kidding... We have a 2011 Mazda 2 which is awesome and only cost me 120K ????

The Auctions (depending on where you live)......... 4 years ago, I picked up a 7 month old car---The owner must have started  defaulting payments the day he got it. Why I say depending on your location---they don't Auction cars taken from that location , for obvious reasons.

Just yesterday in another motoring thread on this forum a member posted he has friends with 1 yr old camry's they can't sell even at half the original purchase price.

I'm living in a small village with a lot of dirt roads. But so far I didn't see one, that would need 4x4 even in rain season. But for construction sites with heavy machines it makes sense.

 

Yeah, I need pick up. In first 14 days I already did a 1000+ trip fully loaded and with 5 people... . Also handy for my german shepherd dog which loves water and especially buffalo mud pools... .

Triton 4x4.

Its not a Land Rover like I had back in the UK but it does OK.

A blast from my past  (BTM)    before the mask ......

When I came here, and thinking about the state of the roads in my area, it had to be something robust, have an auto trans and be a Toyota, at the time the only ride that ticked all the boxes was a 4x4, this one.....????

It sold at an auction in January this year for 3.4 million dollars.

Drove this for five years but recently sold it and bought a Mazda CX-8.

Nope, but got a cassette deck in my 2004 Hilux which I bought new all those years ago.
